During the civil rights era of the 1960's, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. fought to stop Democrats from denying civil rights to blacks. It should come as no surprise that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican as has been affirmed by his niece, Dr. Alveda C. King.Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. would not have joined the Democratic Party, the party of the Ku Klux Klan and segregation.
Dr. King fought against Democrat Public Safety Commissioner Eugene "Bull" Connor in Birmingham who let loose vicious dogs and turned skin-burning fire hoses on black civil rights demonstrators.
Democrat Georgia Governor Lester Maddox famously brandished ax handles to prevent blacks from patronizing his restaurant. Democrat Alabama Governor George Wallace blocked the entrance of two black students at the University of Alabama in 1963 and thundered, "Segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever”. All of these racist Democrats remained Democrats until the day they died. In fact, racist Democrats declared that they would rather vote for a “yellow dog” than a Republican because the Republican Party was know as the party for blacks.

Now I get it. Chap Cain's speeches on MLK Day hoorahing MLK and the Democrats now makes his party switch make sense. MLK is a Republican! Oh, wait, what about all of the hoorahing for straight Democratic ticket voting and the bad mouthing of Republicans previous to a few days ago. I guess I still don't get it. But I noticed Cain was not a featured speaker at the local MLK celebration. Too bad since in a speech to a black church he one time claimed to remember a 1962 MLK incident and how he felt at the time. I know for him to have remembered this event because he was only two years old MLK must be like God to him.
Careful saying Martin Luther King was a Republican. Norman Brown and Lester Wisegerber may switch parties again. Well....they would probably wait until Obama's term is over first.
The history of the Republican party in Texas is very pro Republican early on too. But black voters have refused to politick with Republicans, instead they have chained themselves to the Democratic party. Usually over 90% of black voters in this county are voting for each of the local Democrats. It has hurt them statewide and as Liberty County goes Republican it will hurt them locally if they refuse effective communication with officeholders.
King a Republican? Ray, Ray please quit telling us the truth, we can't take it!
Who cares what Martin King was? I vote for the candidate and what they say they are for and if I believe it. Usually that leaves me no choice but to vote Republican.
Chap Cain has never lost an election. A track record with no losses should have been the source of a great deal of self-confidence that enabled Cain to be the kind of leader who would not allow the courthouse to be in a perpetual state of corruptness. But Cain has taken the public's trust and used it as a powerful weapon to build himself a kingdom within the courthouse, a kingdom that usurps the power of the county judge and those who set the budgets for secretaries and say who gets what office, etc. He has not stopped any corruption and he has not spoken up for the people. Cain has taken those votes and they have become the source of mean-spirited haughty arrogant campaign tactics out of sight of the public. He has taken the public trust and become appallingly self-delusive. He thinks he is so perfect that he can turn humility on and off as a campaign tool whenever he wants and fool us all because he is better and smarter than all of us.
I wondered if someone was going to say something about Judge Cain and how partisan he has been through the years. I attended one of the MLK celebrations and vowed I would never go back. Cain's partisanship and his puckering up and symbolically kissing all of those folks was a big reason for that. Fake fake fake. If he wanted to help the poor and disadvantaged he should have taken some of his family fortune and some of his power and helped them rather than spew hot empty air throughout the church. He will make a great Republican!
Sure King was a Republican and Massachusetts is too.......
What about the accused murderer Russell and Chip Fairchild.
