To: Mayor Guy Robert Jackson
City Secretary Nancy Hempel
(addressed per AMDD By-laws)
Dear Mayor Jackson and Ms. Hempel,
Please accept this letter as my immediate resignation from the Anahuac Municipal Development District. I feel as though my leaving will be the best decision for the District so that they may move forward. Currently there is an obvious animosity between myself and City staff, as well as some elected officials, which is preventing the cooperation that the District requires. As Chairman of the District, I have made requests of the City that have been ignored. Any actions that I have taken have been in the best interest of the District and the tax payers dollars. There has been nothing easy about chairing the AMDD since its beginning. It has been an uphill battle the entire way beginning with Guy Robert Jackson not getting the Chair position that he so desperately wanted. I believe that he has resented me from the start which has resulted in my constant head butting with him regarding what was best for the district. It is no secret that I have been outspoken on many issues that involve the City and tax payer dollars. In my opinion, it is that outspokenness that resulted in the AMDD being treated like a step-child. The District was created in 2008 by a (narrow) majority vote of the people. We have now entered 2010 and what have we accomplished? Nothing but a very tumultuous attempt at a harbor project. I had hoped to see the Park Project (finger piers) through to its fruition and revel in the fact that I was a part of that project, but I must step away for the betterment of the District. I hope with my departure the District will thrive and become something to be proud of. Currently, the District is doing nothing but running in place, not going anywhere. The District is capable of great things with the right leadership and cooperation from the City and its elected officials. I sincerely wish the best for the AMDD and its members. Thank you for this opportunity that I have experienced over the last year and a half.
Regards,
Dana O. Evans

This is a sad event for chambers county! We have let a handful of good old boys run this county for to long! And After seeing the 13 news story tonight goods like the Sh -- is about to hit the fan!! The tax payer will take a hit again.
wHAT DO WE SAY ABOUT A COUNTY WHOS CITY LEADERS GET ARRESTED FOR DRUNK DRIVING VERY RECENTLY. NANCY HEMPEL SHOULD SPEND MORE TIME WORKING AND LESS TIME DRINKING AND DRIVING.AT LEAST THE POLICE ARRESTED HER AND DIDNT SWEEP IT UNDER THE RUG!!
Nancy Hempel owns a bar and works for the City;is that a conflict of intrest?
What ever happened to the Anahuac Marina idea? How much did that cost us?
I think that people should stop pointing fingers at people when they don't know the whole story. Why should someone having their own business be a conflict with working for the City. Just because one person didn't get their way, doesn't mean that other people should be blamed.
WHO did ms.hempel tick off? otherwise it would have been covered up.
the investors of the marina project are waiting for thier money to get back from the laundry cleaner.
Silvia Marina INC.
Nah...I think it was more like Jackson Marina. He was the one pushing it. I heard that he was the one suggesting "emminent domain" to the property owners by where they wanted the marina.
why would Jackson be pushing for the marina? a mayor doesnt make enough money to invest in it or does he?
With the help from some of the FEMA funds, the emminent domain and his buddies that was loaded with money, the Marina could have been another profitable accomplishment for evryone involved. Dana, you may have gotten out of this position just in time to escape an investigation here.
what do you say about county officials and employees driving drunk ,wrecking and not getting arrested?
Jackson is a realastate agent, thats why hes interested
Jackson is not and has never been a realtor in this state. Just check the state website. Also, it is highly unethical for an elected official to profit from a project the city is involved in. Depending on how the City's ordinance is written, it could also be a violation for him to profit. He has partial interest in a piece of property atop the hill. If the marina had been developed, he could have made a killing with the sale of that property. Not to mention the legacy of being the Jackson that "made" the marina.
Marina Del FEMA.
i assume our mafia funded marina has been put on hold?
More likely, it will end up in a lawsuit.
