Before I began my rant please let me qualify the following statements by saying that I am running for the Liberty County Republican Chair Position. Having said that, let us proceed.
The Political Forum at Cleveland Texas on January 28, 2010 was very informative and I appreciate Dayton News and the Cleveland Advocate for holding the event.
Having said that it is my feeling that the core values and/or the Party Affiliations were not addressed by the questions that were presented to the Candidates.
The logistical questions about how one could improve the particular office that the candidates were running for were interesting but I did not come away with a true picture of why the candidates were running for office. I did not come away with an identifiable political position that the candidates follow.
I must say that the candidates of a couple of the races did identify themselves as Conservatives and did allow us an insight into why they became involved in Liberty County Politics. I applaud those candidates and I appreciate their boldness.
If I were a candidate standing on the political stage of a public forum I would tell the public that I am a Conservative Republican. I would also say that I support the National and State Republican Platform.
I would say that I believe in Individualism, Less Government, Lower Taxes, and that I believe that the National Government should stay out of our lives.
It would be great if the Republican Candidates would use their opening statements for the purpose of stating why they are running for the position and identify themselves politically.
Republican Candidates please take the opportunity to differentiate Conservative beliefs from those of the Democratic Party. Distinguishing the political differences between the Republican and Democratic Party will not be seen as divisive or as trouble-making but rather it is a statement of one’s belief system.
Republicans the procedural questions presented to the Candidates at this forum favored the incumbents. In Liberty County the Democrats are the incumbents. If you want to win your political race and help to move Liberty County in a Conservative Republican direction, you better tell the voters who you are and what you stand for politically or you will lose.

Amen brother!
Thank God we have someone running for office who is a true believer. Andy you have my family and my vote.
Wisegerber is a worthless excuse for a party leader.
We need this for our party, where is the partisan Republican leadership?
Andy I think you have really hit on the things that need to be said by a county chairman. The leader of the county party should be a spokesman that in real clear short introductory persuasive speeches reminds the public of why someone runs as a Republican versus a Democrat. Lester Ray has always said he really didn't think party labels made any difference so that has not been something he has done. Candidates on the other hand should know and be able to articulate why they ran as a Republican rather than a Democrat but they should mostly focus on why they are a better choice to fill the office they are seeking. You would make a good chairman Andy. I hope people are willing to give someone else a chance.
Mr. McCreight I am voting for you. I believe the current chairman should be doing all you have mentioned. Most of our candidates are at least as capable of serving in the job they are asking voters to give them a chance to do and most of them have not been part of what has become a shady past in Liberty's government. If they can communicate that to enough voters maybe things will improve around here.
Andy, I have not met you but want to thank you fou be a classy guy. You have focused on encouraging us all to push the conservative message and the need for change around here rather than been personal about your opponent. AS we all know he is eighty years old now and never really liked the partisan part of his job or really caring whether someone was a Democrat or Republican. Attacking someone like that can frustrate the voters. Keep the campaign up beat and keep pushing for Republicans Andy! That is what being a chairman is all about.
This quote could be from someone around here: "People out there are disgusted. Especially with any one party dominating government and talking down to them. They want straight talk, no BS." Scott Brown the new Senator from Massachusetts that replaced Ted Kennedy said that. I hope Republican primary voters around here say something similar soon.
I was at the forum in Cleveland. What a sham, why cant people get up and get in line to ask questions. The way Vanesa did it was a waste of time and worthless for the real questions that need to be answered. Who is she protecting by not letting the public ask the questions, what a bunch of BS. I wouldnt waste my time going to the Dayton forum unless she town halls the format.
Why didnt Andy get a chance to speak? Can you spell s-e-t-u-p?
I agree, the format as you say needs to be a town hall forum, that will make the forum look less rigged and allow the public a REAL voice. The way she does it protects the candidates too much and also doesn't allow the candidates to strut their real stuff.
The ship he needs to right is full of Wisegerber $hit.
Liberty County needs Andy to right a ship that is constantly on the verge of sinking.
This Wisegerber $hit Ship will soon go down like the Titanic. It is so overloaded that it can not hold any more of his garbage. The rats that have gotten on this ship, will soon go down with it.
