Dear Liberty Dispatch

I want to congratulate the local Democratic party. I have lived in Liberty a long time, and with the exception of years ago when hardly anyone would dare to run as a Republican, this was the cleanest I have ever seen them campaign as a party.

Absent a futile effort among the lawyer class to give credence to malicious rumors about one of the Republican candidates, very little of the traditional mixture of using their media friends and their social network to spread lies and half truths was witnessed during the entire election season.

I truly believe one of the reasons for the races being different this time was because some of the candidates, as in past years, would have none of that kind of dirty campaigning. It is a difficult thing to be an incumbent and to have a record that is fair game for anyone that opposes your re-election. But there are always some who run a clean race.

And those Democrats have always been rewarded – until this year. In the past, Democrats in local races have benefited from straight ticket Democratic voting. In fact, in the last fifteen years if the straight ticket voting had been flip flopped, like it was in our local as this year, there would not be one single Democratic officeholder in Liberty County.

There is no coincidence that this year several in the media decided it was a priority to educate voters about straight ticket voting. Noticed as a first was their efforts in this year of all years to make sure local people understood that IF a voter voted straight ticket they could still pick a candidate or two and vote in the other party.

But that was mild and subtle and perhaps unnoticed by many. What should have raised the eyebrows all was the local media’s new found objections to straight ticket voting. Never have they had so much enthusiasm and so many words to express their opposition to “pulling the lever” as some call it. That is not to say they have never given lip service to opposing this practice before, but until it was obvious the Obama factor was going to flip flop the results, they have not preached with near the zeal.

Looking back at this election there seems to me to be two new phenomena that should have made us all approach the election with a fatalistic viewpoint. Local Democrats were doomed from the get-go. First, the excuse we have all heard ad nauseum, Obama is to blame. Hardly a revelation, it finally caught up to local Democrats. When Obama started talking openly about long held goals of the liberals in the Democrat party, Texans ran to the polls to vote against him and his party.

Second, the local media and incumbent politicians knew whatever they said, it would not go unchallenged. In the past, the Democrats have had an unusual advantage. The media would help Democrats’ re-election bid by protecting, or even defending, any reporting of officeholders’ negatives. Not only did they prevent exposing them from defending their record, they helped research and “get the word out” on Republican challengers. This election that tradition ended. Going into the 2010 election season it was obvious Liberty Dispatch was more than willing to, not only talk about incumbents’ records, but to ensure Republicans that the local media would not get the last word.

Those two things made this a very different campaign season. It made it possible to clean up years of the good ole boy system. And a free to speak vigilante press is the only hope of not starting another good ole boy system- with Republicans in the drivers’ seat. If the local media does its job this can’t happen. If they don’t, I have a feeling Liberty Dispatch will.

Obama's People Keeping Flyers Safe for Thanksgiving

An elderly traveler who could barely stand is helped to her feet by a TSA official for a pat-down search at Denver International Airport

Happy Starvation Day!

Had today's political class been in power in 1623, tomorrow's holiday would have been called "Starvation Day" instead of Thanksgiving. Of course, most of us wouldn't be alive to celebrate it.

Every year around this time, schoolchildren are taught about that wonderful day when Pilgrims and Native Americans shared the fruits of the harvest. But the first Thanksgiving in 1623 almost didn't happen.

Long before the failure of modern socialism, the earliest European settlers gave us a dramatic demonstration of the fatal flaws of collectivism. Unfortunately, few Americans today know it.

The Pilgrims at Plymouth Colony organized their farm economy along communal lines. The goal was to share the work and produce equally.

That's why they nearly all starved.

When people can get the same return with less effort, most people make less effort. Plymouth settlers faked illness rather than working the common property. Some even stole, despite their Puritan convictions. Total production was too meager to support the population, and famine resulted. This went on for two years.
"So as it well appeared that famine must still ensue the next year also, if not some way prevented," wrote Gov. William Bradford in his diary. The colonists, he said, "began to think how they might raise as much corn as they could, and obtain a better crop than they had done, that they might not still thus languish in misery. At length after much debate of things, (I) (with the advice of the chiefest among them) gave way that they should set corn every man for his own particular, and in that regard trust to themselves. And so assigned to every family a parcel of land."

In other words, the people of Plymouth moved from socialism to private farming. The results were dramatic.

"This had very good success," Bradford wrote, "for it made all hands very industrious, so as much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been. By this time harvest was come, and instead of famine, now God gave them plenty, and the face of things was changed, to the rejoicing of the hearts of many."
Because of the change, the first Thanksgiving could be held in November 1623.

What Plymouth suffered under communalism was what economists today call the tragedy of the commons. The problem has been known since ancient Greece. As Aristotle noted, "That which is common to the greatest number has the least care bestowed upon it."

If individuals can take from a common pot regardless of how much they put in it, each person has an incentive to be a free-rider, to do as little as possible and take as much as possible because what one fails to take will be taken by someone else. Soon, the pot is empty.

Liberty Hospital District spools up to start wasting tax dollars

KSHN:

"Hospital Upgrades: We have reported recently that many services unavailable for years will be returning to the Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center. That includes surgical procedures at the local hospital. Vickie Gates is Interim Administrator for the Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center.  She said work has already begun to renovate the long unused surgical facilities in preparation to scheduling those services early next year.  Ms. Gates said another change would be moving the 24-hour hospital emergency room back to its original location on the Travis St. side of the building."

Again the Liberty Hospital District and Bruce Stratton have found new and creative ways to steal more money from Liberty County Taxpayers.

As mentioned in the story, Liberty Hospital plans to offer surgical procedures.  Who in their right mind would ever have any surgical procedures done at that lean-to under a shade tree?

The consensus among Liberty County voters is that Liberty County only needs a Level 1 trauma center, a place to stabilize patients.  The Liberty County Hospital will always be a financial bottomless pit and never up to par for life saving treatment or long term care.

Liberty County District Attorney, Mike Little's corruption comes to light- Official Oppression, Selective Prosecution, Suppressing Evidence and Malicious Prosecution

UPDATE 11/20/10:  In the almost 30 Years Mike Little has been in office as Liberty County DA, he has finally been forced to explain his 'corrupt acts'.  Today, assistant Liberty County DA mouthpiece, Anne Streit went on local KSHN Radio to explain and try to defuse his bosses criminal acts.  The question here is, if Mike Little is not guilty of what he has been accused of, why isn't Mike Little answering the allegations against him- himself?  The fact Little is not answering the criminal allegations by his own mouth is evidence and admission of his guilt.  Instead, Mike Little uses one of his peons and hides behind them.

There are serious questions surrounding newly appointed first assistant Liberty County District Attorney, Anne Streit's moral fiber.  Little appears to be scrapping the bottom of the barrel by pushing Anne Streit out in from of him.

If you remember in the past, the last time Bill Buchanan of KSHN radio had a high profile person trying to explain away a crime in Liberty County was when alleged murderer of Winston Smith, Russell Fairchild was on the radio, the pattern continues...

Stay tuned!

Liberty County District Attorney, Mike Little's corruption catches up with him- again. Yet another person has become a victim of i-dineout blog, Alan Youngblood's irresponsible comments and non-professionalism.

Story inspired by Liberty Dispatch, Corruption Watchdog

Dear Liberty Dispatch

Liberty County Texas, a lesson in corruption and injustice.

KSHN churns out stories about justice when it has to do with dogs, but people don’t always get the same consideration. Read this KSHN squib:

“In September Liberty County man, Shane Rushing, was accused of throwing a dog off the U.S. 90, Trinity River Bridge in Liberty.  On Monday, a jury in the Liberty County Court at Law found him guilty and sentenced him to 180 days in jail and the maximum fine of $4,000. City of Liberty Animal Control Officer Tammy Bishop testified in the case, with the rescued dog by her side.  The dog remains at the Liberty Animal Shelter awaiting adoption.”

I have no problem with this Rushing character getting punished for mistreating a dog, but I do have a problem with Rusty Hight and Mike Little giving a lighter sentence to convicted child molesters than someone who mistreats an animal.

Where has KSHN been when injustice occurs in these courtrooms? Little spends all kinds of money and time pursuing his own agenda and WE THE PEOPLE not only pay for it, we PAY FOR IT. Criminals are returned to the streets while fights with political enemies or what I call “make an example” cases go on to make Mike Little look bigger than life.

That office, the District Attorney’s office needs to be returned to the people. Liberty County has some very capable people that would act like a public servant as the head of that office. We need to elect one.

As for the man who threw the dog off the bridge, his sentence was handled by a lynch mob mentality.  Who is to know, anyone is the community could become a victim of this same lynch mob mentality which Bill Buchanan over at KSHN has so vehemently and disingenuously wrapped around himself like a flag on Veterans Day.

Do Buchanan and the lynch mob he promotes make Liberty County stronger, more fair, more judicial, more civilized, more respected or more Christian?  I think not…

Liberty County needs fair and open justice.  Judge Don Taylor should be ashamed for his excessive, knee jerk and lynch mob justice.

I believe Liberty County is soon to rid itself of the judicial corruption it has been plagued with for so many generations and come of age.

Local Liberal Media Bias Continues...

Liberty County just came out of a major and historical Republican win but, here we go...
Quote:
"New LCSO deputy can’t shake Harris County controversy

By VANESA BRASHIER
Updated: 11.11.10

It took a month, but the controversy surrounding Louis Guthrie, a former Harris County sheriff’s deputy and former Republican candidate for Harris County Pct. 4 Constable, has finally found him in Liberty County.

Guthrie, one of the newest hires for the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), was fired from Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) back in 2009, after 17 years with the department, for allegedly initiating a full-blown investigation at an Humble car wash in July 2009 after $16 was stolen from his wife’s vehicle."

Local alleged liberal news outlet, the Cleveland Advocate has published a recent story which has become an interest to Liberty Dispatch readers.

Vanesa Brashier, Advocate Editor seems to alert Liberty County residents that a controversial figure and law enforcement officer, Louis Guthrie from Harris County, has been hired by Liberty County Sheriff, Henry Patterson. She goes on to explain in detail how this man had multiple problems and accusations against him in his past. All allegations against this man to date have been cleared. The only controversy in Liberty County surrounding this man is what Brashier has created.

Next she appears to cast a shadow of doubt on Sheriff Patterson's judgment in hiring people who have been a-political and/or conservative history... as if its a negative for a public official or officer to be conservative.

In Brashier's story she claims: "Liberty County Sheriff Henry Patterson was asked to comment for this article, but he declined." According to statements made to Liberty Dispatch from the Liberty County Sheriff's Department, the Sheriff talked to Vanesa Brashier for over an hour about Officer Guthrie.

What puzzles many Liberty Dispatch readers is the fact that documented crimes have been committed and publicly exposed in Liberty County but... ignored by the local media. It appears the local liberal media has become an unwitting conspirator in those documented crimes by their non-reporting.

In all appearances, Liberty Dispatch is somewhat impressed with Guthrie's conservative stances and past work.

Its appears we have more than a few media outlets in Liberty County who have a real aversion to the Republican Party and/or Conservatives.

TO SWAP OR NOT TO SWAP: YOUR DECISION!

I, Andy McCreight, hereby proclaim that I will remain neutral in matters concerning future Republican Candidates.

I will not support or endorse any current Liberty County Democrats who are contemplating leaving the Democrat Party and making declarations to become associated with the Republican Party.

The time has passed. The election has occurred.

Anyone seeking public office in Liberty County Texas as a Republican should make application at the appropriate time and live with the results of the Republican Party Primary Process.

The Republican Voters of Liberty County deserve the right to decide who the 2012 Liberty County Republican Candidates will be.

As far as I am concerned; Incumbency will not be an advantage in 2012.

Clues and probability in the death of Odell McDuffie

Final star between arrows denote impact point.
UPDATE: Texas Governor, Rick Perry's Office has contacted several local Liberty County Officials and businesses with orders to secure all evidence related to Odell's car and those cars used to repair Odell's patrol car.

It was a sad day when several of us from Liberty Dispatch went out to the accident scene where Liberty County Sheriff's Deputy, Odell McDuffie died.

After a survey of the scene and interviews with witnesses,  it is my best determination the following happened.

1. Odell rounded the farm road curve and his car throttled wide open.
2. According to witnesses, they claim the vehicle engine revved wide open.
3. The car crossed the opposing lane and went off the road and hit a tree.
4. The car spun around after impacting the front right drivers side of the vehicle.
5. Witnesses who appeared almost immediately on the scene state- the air bag had deployed and Odell was pinned under the dash with his hand still grasping the steering wheel but unresponsive.
6. A fire in the engine compartment started almost immediately upon impact.
7. It is believed Odell's neck was probably broken from the impact while he was under the dash.

Summation:  I believe Odell was traversing a corner when suddenly the car accelerated on its own- wide open.  Thinking the accelerator was stuck, Odell then leaned down under the dash to try to unfreeze the accelerator.  When Odell leaned to the right and under the dash, his hand over corrected and caused him to go off the road.  Odell was probably moving at 60+ miles per hour and the 50-75 yards he covered at the aforementioned speed, was unrecoverable.

I believe the proximate cause of Odell's ultimate death was due to a faulty material mechanical defect in the Ford Crown Victoria police vehicle he was operating.

The car and its computer must be preserved for further investigation.

Odell, you will be missed...

Ford Crown Victoria and Sudden Acceleration Defect

In a case of sudden acceleration by a Ford Crown Victoria, the firm recently took depositions of Ford's Rule 30(b)(6) representatives to discover how, or even if, Ford makes proper use of customer and dealership complaints.

From the testimony, any reasonable person would conclude, Ford has not conducted any meaningful investigations into complaints of sudden unintended acceleration despite thousands of customer complaints and dealer inquiries. The evidence at an eventual trial will show that Ford has taken no reasonable steps to warn the public of the possible danger of unintended acceleration events in their vehicles.

Despite thousands of complaints, Ford’s formal “investigation” involved nothing more than attaching a recording device to the vehicles and/or driving the vehicles; if the event did not replicate, Ford dismissed the complaint as being caused solely by driver error (i.e., stepping simultaneously on the brake and accelerator).

Ford calls the driver error “fat foot” no matter what your shoe size,  thus demonstrating a cavalier disregard for the legitimate complaints from thousands of worried customers and for the personal safety of consumers and other motorists. Despite a rash of ongoing complaints from customers after the Electronic Throttle Control System was introduced, Ford’s only formal investigation into this safety concern was concluded in the fall of 2005.

The firm has learned through discovery that Ford was notified of at least 12 separate complaints from police and fire departments involving the 2005 Crown Victoria; Ford dismissed each and every one as being caused by “fat feet”!

One such complaints was brought by a police officer whose cruiser took off after he left the gas pump and careened across the parking lot striking a second cruiser and injuring the female officer seated in that second vehicle. After striking the second vehicle, the runaway Ford continued to accelerate, spinning its rear wheels and fish-tailing in place as it pushed the second vehicle into a curb. The spinning wheels literally tore the top layer of asphalt off the parking lot.  Ford attributed the incident to fat feet. The police officer will be a witness at trial and will testify that he was pressing on the brake pedal with both feet as hard as he could!

Incoming Information

In 2010 Liberty Dispatch has had to be selective in choosing what to pursue when given tips about criminal activity. The sheer volume has required it. In this election year we received more leads than in anytime since the website was turned on. Some of them were worthless and some alleged very serious and very illegal activity.

As we near the end of the year we would like to thank those people who have read this site and those who have defended this site and even prayed for us, but we also want to say a special thank you to those who had the courage to send us information. We have investigated some of the tips, we have reported some of the facts, and even after the election, we are confident that indictments will be forthcoming. We are still looking into some of the allegations that have been made; and have forwarded some to proper authorities. We ourselves are probably not even as patient as our worst critic, but the victory goes to those who persevere.

To give our readers a taste of the kind of things sent to us that we do not have the time to pursue, below is an e-mail we received a few days before the election.

“David T McCullough who is running for Liberty County Treasurer is being sued by my family after taking 15000.00 from us in Feb for a piece of property in Dayton that he told us he owned. In JUNE we found out he didn't own this property a dead man did and it still had a 26000,00 loan on it from the Texas Veteran Land Board. Even if we paid this off we wouldn't own it because Mr. McCullough doesn't own it. The dead man's estate does. Mr. McCullough found out we had hired Walter Fontenot in Liberty County to represent us and he's done his best to file every fraudulent paper with the county and the tax authorities in Tarkington because he hasn't even paid taxes since 2006 and he is not a tax accountant he's nothing. I wouldn't want this man in my county seat as a treasurer. He has his office in Houston located at 7712 Harrisburg Houston Texas 77012 as a homestead said to be owned by Maudine McCullough Who by the way has been dead since 1997 and is also claiming a senior exemption on a dead woman. This is a Good MAN NOT!!!! this is all public record and can be verified.”

Please stay tuned as the coming months will reveal some of the self-dealing that has been going on in the courthouse. Please keep adding to our vaults and help us help the newly elected public officials restore our local government’s integrity.

Dear LD

Updated

I am a proud hard working member of The Tea Party movement and am very excited about the recent political gains both locally and nationally. As for Liberty County, I’ve heard some very disturbing news… I heard that only three days after this great election, Democrat District Attorney, Mike Little is now trying to switch over to the Republican Party. Not because he believes in the Republican Party Platform and ideals, but for political gain. Hearing he wants to switch after two years in a Barack Obama led Democratic Party confirms what many of us have heard about this man - his allegiance is to himself. People that have worked side by side with Mike Little in the past have said the most important thing is maintaining power, this is unacceptable. Mr. Little characterizes everything the Tea Party is against.

Another thing evident to anyone reading this website or that knows anyone who has been up in the 253rd District Court, Mike Little is trying to shut down any opposition to him doing whatever he wants to do. Liberty Dispatch is a true voice of freedom and has revealed much of what many of us have suspected for years. Can anyone honestly believe the endless charges and indictments of Ray Akins and Eddie Shauberger isn’t about politics? – Both of these men have spent years and years of championing the cause of change and reform and both were hot to defeat Little and the Liberty County Democrats LONG BEFORE LITTLE AND GREG ARTHUR COOKED UP THIS “THEY ARE CRIMINALS” smear strategy. This is all about Mike Little shutting WE THE PEOPLE up. Let him do this to these two men and he will do it to anyone. And trust me he will do it as a Republican just like he did it as a Democrat.

What is going on with this District Attorney? He was listed as on the Obama side of the political equation before the local landslides. Has Mr. Little adopted the theory if you can't beat them join them or is he trying to align himself with known RHINO's in the local party to continue his reign of terror on the people of Liberty County?

Mike Little has been an elected Democrat official for over twenty years and as mentioned, has harassed and persecuted people and activist on the Republican side. Mike Little has been the Democrat’s political and prosecutorial hit-man, who has continuously engaged in selective prosecution and official oppression among other crimes. Mike Little’s behavior and criminal acts are a direct threat to all current and future Republicans. Those mentioned acts and his lack of integrity threaten to fracture the very fabric and foundation of the local Republican Party. Does it help Republicans to have a man like this switch parties? How? I guess it may make it easier to beat him since in our primary conservatives will have him isolated from many of his usual supporters. But do we want to even say he is running on our ticket? Would a true conservative that is aware of what has been happening around here support Mike Little and encourage him switching? Are you kidding me, go talk to Chambers County. They actively worked to get him out of their county.

I hope Liberty Dispatch will print this letter and help me (help them) to sound the alarm that although we had a great victory on election night. We patriots need to continue the fight against corrupt turncoats like Mike Little. We cannot afford to allow Mike Little to bring his shameful behavior and corruption to the Republican Party. We also need to sound the alarm that any person who is found to be a part of Mike Little’s corruption, lack of integrity and disloyalty will be exposed and run out of the party. We can’t be naive and think that one of the options of the corrupt officeholders still in office is to simply switch parties. And one of our options is to watch and take notes and do what the other party should have done – expose them, defeat them, send them packing…

A NEW WORLD – A NEW COUNTY

They may have all missed it, but people that hold public office and those that aspire to should sit up and take notice. The world does not revolve around you. Most voters either do not know you or do not know you well enough to be devoted to you blindly. Tuesday’s election proves it.

With the exception of one JP up in Cleveland, all of the incumbents with their high name recognition and their high profile public profile have been fired. Just regular citizens, our next door neighbors and the people we shop at WalMart with, they are set to be sworn in at the first of 2012. The losers can complain all they want to by saying “we just lost because this was a Republican year”, but if that is true then realize “you just won before because you were in a Democrat year”. Some people are voting for you because they are your friend or they feel they know you well enough to want you in office, but most people do not know you.

What they know is you stuck with President Obama when he became the head of your party. Maybe you could have switched but you didn’t. He was resoundingly rebuked. And people did not know you well enough to exclude you when they sent his people packing for their socialists’ policies and drunken sailor-like spending.

What voters know is rumors and real live occurrences of scandals and wrongdoing have been right up under the noses for years of Democrats in the courthouse that has been dominated and run by Democrats. Most people don’t know you. But I can tell you this many of us believe some of you will be indicted. Some of helped make it a near landslide against Democrats in the courthouse. We did that because we do know we are sick and tired of it. And those who are still in office were either involved in scandal or you did nothing to stop it.

Long time Democrat officeholders that are not indicted and try and switch parties this late in the game will just face their toughest critics earlier in the year and without the aid of their most dependable allies. Not many yellow dog Democrats will vote in the next Republican primary. The tingle down the leg they get from Obama or Hillary is too irresistible.

2012 will be a new world if the Democrats left in office here in Liberty County decide to run for re-election. There is nothing your buddies in the media and the advantages of incumbency can do to overcome WE THE PEOPLE in this new environment.

Personal Thanks...

Thank you people of Liberty County who voted for change and voted Republican!

Liberty County, you have come a long way in the past five years.

Ray Akins

Letter to the editor

Dear LD:

After all of the bloviating and the bluster and the bad math and poor management of the voter tally many heard on the radio during the long and confusing wait for the election night results, the outcome is still the same. The beginning of the end of our long collective nightmare has begun. People who know things about the FEMA scandal or the land record fraud or the mail theft or the alleged murder of the retired teacher out in Hardin or any other scandal can now come forth, as of January the 3rd and there will be far less potential of collaboration with intent to intimidate and silence any witnesses.

Information already in the hands of federal investigators will soon come to light for a public that has become anxious and even doubtful about prosecution. This community has very clearly and with a loud and impressive voice said “stop, that is enough!”

Liberty Dispatch will, as always, receive any information on these and other matters our readers want to send. We want readers to know the process may be slower than we all want it to be, but be assured all of the rhetoric is not just election time spin. A great deal of justice is yet to be meted out. Political retribution is not on anyone’s mind, but accountability for harm that has been done to our fellow citizens should be on all of our minds.

Can we get a witness? This election indicates we not only can get witnesses, but that we can also again believe. We can believe things will not always be the same. We can believe eventually that this community will get its fill of turning the other way and not wanting to rock the boat. We now know that we stand together, not necessarily as Republicans or Democrats, but as parents and grandparents and as patriotic Americans who believe in the rule of law.

Can we get a witness when we say “no man is above the law” here in Liberty County? My answer has changed. Tuesday night and the coming weeks and months indicate this community is living up to its name. Liberty! And now we will witness “justice for all”!

This election and its results are no "happily ever after".  We must be vigilant of those who would seek to undo the hard work done to better the community and our party.  There are many who would manipulate and damage the system for their own personal and financial gains.

These newly elected officials need our support and protection from the harm enemies of the community and party would visit upon them.

This has been a very exhausting and hard fought election...

There will be more information and press releases in the coming days.

Proof?

Dear Liberty Dispatch,

Will Melody Gilmore prove the point this website has been making about the local Democratic party and their elected officials?

I know it is not as big of a crime, and that it may not be a crime at all, but District Clerk Melody Gilmore’s decision to close our District Clerk’s office sure seems like the self serving type of thing we taxpayers ought to all frown upon.

My first question is whether or not it is legal. She has told the radio station the closing is because of the office’s proximity to the polls. That sounds ridiculous. Are District Clerk’s offices closing around the country if they are close to the polls. Perhaps Gilmore should have taken a day of vacation if she felt she could not keep from electioneering outside of her office.

Closing her office could have some other questions attached to it that are unquestionably wrong. Will anyone in her office be campaigning for her during the hours she has closed the office. If so, WE THE PEOPLE are paying for her to have a campaign staff to solicit our vote for her on election day. Is that the way the system is meant to work?

An Election Day Prayer for Our Nation

'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good, but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics.

We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and Set us free. Amen!'

Dear LD

FOUR MONKEYS AFFECT OUR COUNTY

Together they embody the proverbial principle to "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil". They are NOT the three monkeys Mizaru, Kikazaru, and Iwazaru. For sure these three Japanese monkeys are more famous. Mizaru covering his eyes, who sees no evil; Kikazaru, covering his ears, who hears no evil; and Iwazaru, covering his mouth, who speaks no evil were popularized in a 17th century carving over the door of the famous Tōshō-gū shrine in Nikkō, Japan. But three of the four in the monkey metaphor we speak of are all members of the local media and made infamous by their own “carvings” as they all try to be “the news center” of Liberty County.

In the western world the phrase, “hear no evil, see no evil, and speak no evil is often used to refer to those who deal with impropriety by looking the other way, refusing to acknowledge it, or feigning ignorance. All three of these locals monkeys have echoed complains of corruption that has already been revealed to the public, but none of them have initiated and investigated or followed up on any allegations in a way that brought justice where none had hoped to exist.

Of the three, Mizaru (or sees no evil) is the most innocent and forgivable. Locally Vanessa Brashier, the editor of The Dayton News and The Cleveland Advocate is our Mizaru. Brashier, in a reaction to all of the struggles and failures and compromises she has had in her own life has chosen to cover her eyes and adopt the pro abortion, pro gay, non- judgmentalism of the Democratic Party. We all have plenty of shortcomings and mistakes that have scarred our lives, but rather than accept God’s forgiveness and His truth, Brashier has decided to close her eyes and hold her hands over them in order that she doesn’t see the sins of others. She does this in hopes no one sees her sins. She and her readers both need truth, not an advocate that invites us to put our hands over our eyes along with her. Mixing metaphors – the King is naked – stop denying it. We can not clean up the scandals unless we face that they exist and we insist on prosecuting criminals.

Kikazaru is not as sympathetic of a primate. Car wreck blogger Allen Youngblood is like the monkey that hears no evil. Youngblood is pretty much a loner. No one really hangs out with Youngblood, so he probably doesn’t hear as much as a real media person would. His long sleeved starched shirts and gold Lincoln Town Car are only facades in an effort to feel normal and important and successful. But if you take out chasing car wrecks, late night drinking at the Democratic Chairman/Archer’s house, and playing with his blog nights in his little house over in West Liberty and dining alone at Chili’s, you just have an organ grinder churning out Democratic liberal propaganda mixed in with car wreck reports and enough conservative comments to convince himself he appears balanced. Allen’s face book alludes to what he monkeys around with: “Having been in church all my life, served as a church musician from time to time, and having seen the world, it’s time that I write and speak about MY observations. At 55, I’ve lived long enough to formulate MY ideas concerning MY faith, our government and the world.” And boy does he have some ideas. Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama would love him. And so do most of the local Democratic officials. Youngblood is not as innocent and sympathetic as Brashier because the only doubt any of us should have that he has “seen” wrongdoing and not reported it is that he is just plain too ignorant to recognize what is right and wrong. He may be so blinded by his love of the Democratic Party that he can not see the values and ideals he was taught by his parents and his church.

Iwazaru is the worst of the monkeys. He sees. He hears. But Iwazaru keeps his hands over his mouth. Bill Buchanan is the closest thing to a “speak no evil” monkey we have. But his work at the local radio station is really worse than just not reporting or not investigating or validating others’ accounts of the crimes and wrongdoing of his Democratic buddies. Buchanan doesn’t just shut his own mouth; he tries to shut everyone else’s. He attacks people that go against him. He does a great deal of work to try and create some credibility and some revenue so he can play Oz behind his curtain. But most anyone who has been here long enough knows of Bill and, though they may not listen to his KSHN radio station because they don’t want any of Bill’s version of “sunshine” blown in their head and infecting their thinking, many still know of his evil attempt to play a wicked Oz pumping twisted stories to the public in order to help the local cabal of Democrats.

What we have not mentioned thus far is the fourth monkey. Some might call him the outsider because he is nothing like these three. Many years ago some in Japan added this other monkey. Shizaru is his name. He is depicted in some of the 18th century carvings. This fourth monkey symbolizes the principle of "do no evil". He may be shown crossing his arms. To us here at Liberty Dispatch, Shizaru is anyone with a badge or an official position that is NOT part of local corruption, but that has done nothing to arrest and convict those that are. There are prosecutable crimes specifically mentioned and, in some cases, documented on this website. It is inexcusable for the media not to look into these crimes and either criticizes us or report on and pursue the accused. But for anyone with authority and influence in law enforcement to sit and wait or make up some kind of excuse and not arrest those among us who harm this community and violate the law. Well … find another line of work. Shizaru may not be a bad monkey but the old saying that says all that has to happen for evil to exist is for good men to do nothing about it – that applies to monkeys too.
