Dear Liberty Dispatch

For quite some time I have had some serious questions about Mr. Hinch and some of the way our politicians in the courthouse do business. I see that many Liberty County people are now expressing similar questions.

I have to admit I voted for Hinch. I had high hopes that he would take a fresh look at some of the allegations about courthouse corruption. I assumed since he was a Republican he would not ignore wrongdoing by Democratic officeholders. I reasoned that since he claims to be a Christian he would give a 110% fearless effort to do things the right way.

I was shocked like many others when Hinch declined investigating and prosecuting County Judge Phil Fitzgerald and Commissioner Lee Groce for their alleged FEMA fraud, my hopes of him seeking the truth on the Judge CT Hight law library theft were not near as high. Obviously Hinch and Liberty County DA, Mike Little have proven 100% they are practicing "Selective Prosection". I thought his connections to John Otto would have made him a real leader. Now I’m ashamed of both Hinch and Otto. Just like the water district scam Hinch and Otto were pushing on Liberty County taxpayers that failed- thank God!

The worst of his follies, and probably the least well known, Hinch’s dealing with the courthouse mold, shows he has not only been willing to go along with Democrats’ scams, he also has questionable skills as an attorney.

Earlier in Hinch’s opportunities in the courthouse when one of the courthouse employees claimed in a lawsuit they had been negatively affected by mold, Hinch had to make a decision on what he should do as County Attorney. For those who believed that a few years ago more than a million dollar contract was given to friends of the Democratic Commissioners court and that little more than a new paint job was called “mold remediation”, this was an opportunity to revisit fraud claims by Bobby Davis and others.

As we all know now is his practice, Hinch never seemed to consider investigating Democrats’ wrongdoing. Unfortunately, he didn’t choose the next best thing. Instead of allowing lawyers for the county’s insurance represent Liberty County, Hinch decided to make a rare courthouse appearance of his own. Hinch’s decision cost Liberty County a great deal.

Companies that insure buildings for mold have expert attorneys that deal with lawsuits specifically concerning mold. Even though Liberty County had already paid for the benefits of this legal help, Hinch’s decision to take a personal interest in the case would make certain that Democrats assertion that their contractor friend did a legitimate remediation. Hinch decision to defend the county personally resulted in loads of time and expense beside the nearly $200,000 the county employee won in the case.

I don’t understand Hinch’s behavior or his motivation for running for office, but I do know that there have been many ruined lives and much money wasted just like by Liberty County DA, Mike Little- Hinch seems to be another Little. We no longer can afford to turn a blind eye to this kind of elected official. I appreciate you beginning to expose what has been a boondoggle for Liberty County citizens.

A friend of mine asked me the other day "why Liberty Dispatch was picking on poor lil Wes Hinch". He ageed with what I cameback with - "Why is Wes Hinch picking on us?"

If the County Attorney lost "almost $200,000" of taxpayer money because a private contractor failed to properly deal with mold in the courthouse, shouldn't the private contratcor now be held liable?

Wes Hinch and Mike Little will NEVER pursuit the recovery of that money. The insurance company and Bobby Davis and others only the DA or the County Attorney could do something about it.

I can agree Little and Hartal and Hinch share in the scam, but Commissioner Todd Fontenot and Melvin Hunt and Lee Groce and Norm Brown all had their hands in it too.

"D.A." Little was not about to involve himself in a private business matter and the political favors of the Democratic party back then ..... he waited until someone needed a favor and whacked Shauberger and Akins in a private business deal. He whacked the two victims but still has not convictred them.

I remember all of that fight about mold money from the insurance company. Day after day, week after week scaffolds and other work equipment sat unused around the courthouse. I knew somebody's friend was cashing in on taxpayers!
