Dear LD

I don’t know if the two suspects accused of running over fifteen years old Charli Gore are guilty or not, but if you ask some out here in Westlake you will know how tragic and avoidable this whole mess has been.

The Dayton High School student was a resident of the Indian Ridge Subdivision and had been at a party out here near the spillway at the end of CR 443. To no one’s surprise out here an altercation occurred. Rumors about what actually happen abound, but if you know the whole story it is the years that led up to this whole mess that make you really mad and sad all at the same time.

You see the party was organized to celebrate the conviction and sentencing of Shelia Muhs for the murder of a little fellow that lived out here, Donald Coffey. She was sentenced to life in prison. But the problems started out here years ago. Nothing was done about it. Complaint after complaint after complaint fell deaf on the ears of the District Attorneys office. They didn’t want to spend the time or the money to deal with much smaller, much less costly problems. So now look what we have. Two young people dead! And people going to prison and costing us way more than what it would have cost us to deal with littler stuff.

I wish one of the Houston tv channel would come talk to some of us out here and find out how the people we trust to protect us dropped the ball and actually helped this to happen.

Unfortunately Mike Little and Wes Hinch are doing the same stuff all over the county. Or should I say they are not doing anything about the same kinds of problems all over the county. Up here gathering evidence to convict young rapists seems to have delayed arrest and left the young girl vulnerable. Endless delays is better than doing nothing at all. Finally stopping criminals when the crimes get serious is not the answer however. Look and see how many other brushes these boys had with the alw and nothing happened and you will know what I am concerned about.

I call the County Attorney "Lil Mikey". Republican or not, he has to many "me too" attitudes that are similar to Little to deser ve respect.

Prosecuting misdemeanors does not have to be a costly operation. Liberty County has prosecutors already on the payroll. We have judges on the payroll. We have courtrooms. People found guilty have to pay court costs and fines. If Wes Hinch did not want to appear in court he should have opened a hot dog stand or something besides running to be County Attorney.

I have no problem with our prosecutors doing some cost analysis and figuring that in when they decide which cases to pursue, but believe me when I tell you that is not a big deal to Little or Hinch.

I read the letter to the editor and I think I know who wrote it. My grandmother, the lady who wrote the letter, and at least two other people complained more than once about what has been going on out here for years. It is crazy to watch the deaf uncaring ears of the bigshots in the courthouse now scrambling to look like they are trying to clean up this mess.

I called the Liberty County DA six times to do something about our complaints out here. He said I better becarful that I could be charged for complaining to his office.

Mike Little has been intimidating and threatening people in Liberty County for many years. Now he replaced Judge Hight as his puppet and has Mark Morefield as his new puppet.

Morefield don't dance to Mike Little's BS.

He danced to Mike Little's tune today in the gag order hearing. Whats Mike Little trying to quiet?

I live out here where all of this happened and I can tell you we voted against the people that could help us out here but don't. The sheriff can only do so much if the DA doesn't follow through.

I know Mark Morefield and if he's put a gag order in place, it's because, legally, the gag order was due. I might not like it, but Mark Morefield follows the law in his decisions. He won't answer to Little or anyone else. He will ALWAYS follow the law.

I think the reason Mark Morefield put the gag order in place was to keep this trial in Liberty County instead of dealing with a chnage of venue and having this trial move to another County. I think he made a wise decision.
