If rumors are true that Justice of the Peace Bobby Rader will be running for another office, then it is time to start considering who Republicans would want to replace him with. Conservatives need to be prepared to fill these lower court positions because many things happen at this level of the justice system.
First let’s stipulate that conservatives should not be satisfied with replacing Judge Rader with someone who has any connections to Obama. If some has any affiliation with the Democrats while Obama has been their leader, conservatives should not be willing to hear any psychobabble about “conservative Democrats” or voting in the 2010 Democratic primary because so their local vote could count. In the 2010 elections if you voted in the Democratic primary you may be a fine human being and qualified for many things, but running in the Republican primary and being qualified for conservatives’ votes is not one of them. Anyone running for this position is running to replace a man that ran as a Republican when it almost assured his defeat. No one should be able to count on conservative votes to replace Judge Rader who can’t prove they have at least a modicum of the courage he had when he first won office.
Second, the next JP for JP#1 needs to be a hard worker. Sure we have heard about some JP’s who do not work hard and some who spend most of their energy on other jobs, but to replace Judge Rader will require a go getter. Rader is at the jail almost every morning before 5:00 in the morning. He keeps a clean docket. He even handles matters for other judges. I don’t want to hear any misleading nonsense about the Judge running an insurance agency at the same time. He is the exception to what is usually true about JP’s and Constables have two jobs. His record speaks for itself. Lazy candidates need not apply. They will never fill the Judge’s shoes.
Third, the next JP here in Liberty needs to be someone who can handle the type of work the job includes and the inconvenience the job often is. Judge Rader consistently holds court, but in addition his work and his dedication to it include many phone calls in the middle of the night and looking at many gruesome sights. It requires someone who is tough, but also someone who is sensitive to the heartaches and personal tragedies of people that live in this community. I will never forget Bobby Rader looking me in the eye and consoling me over my Mother’s death after her heart attack. He had to be there to pronounce her dead. He has had to tell parents that their kids were caught with a boatload of drugs and he has had to tell husbands that their wife and child were dead on impact in a car wreck. Whoever replaces Judge Rader needs to be a special person. Whoever replaces him should not be some one who woke up one day and thought being a JP would be a neat job that pays pretty well and gives you plenty of time to do other things. We have other JP’s like that and we don’t need another one.
Finally, the next JP needs to be well thought of that when the JP areas are consolidated from 6 in Liberty County to 4, that voters will want for Judge Rader’s replacement to continue their work and be the JP in the consolidates area. JP’s and Constables from this point forward need to pass the test of voters and be seen as the 5:00 AM type of employees that keep their dockets caught up rather than the kind of employees that hire assistants or pawn their workload off on others.
The last Republican meeting I went to there were at least two people attending that are drooling over JP and Constable Jobs. They both need to consider running as Democrats because many of us have no intentions of growing the Republican Party by sitting quietly while people who clearly do not fit the profile above try to win the Republican primary. Sycophants and RINO’s will be identified and life will be dedicated to keeping people who should not be holding public office from winning elections.

I was at that meeting and I did notice Larry whathisname, the head election official for Democrats at the courthouse precinct, was there. I put two and two together and then asked Bobby Rader. Mr.Rader said Larry had expressed an interest in the JP job. This man has some gaul is all I can say!
You probably don't know him but a man came down from the Cleveland area who wants to slither into the Constable job. Who knows where the snake we have now would coil up and rest at. Royce wheeler NEEDS to be replaced by a good conservative, not someone the same other snakes have sent out.
Bobby taught all three of my children how to play baseball.
Judge Rader deals with alot of juveniles who have lost their way, and as a mother I can tell you he is concerned about trying to use tough love to help them get back on track. I love him for the way he cares.
I guess I am interrupting the lovefest for Rader, but I can't ignore the fact that some of the creeps you have exposed on here sure seem comfortable talking with Rader. Who is to say he isn't in bed with them?
Rader Insurance, Rader JP. Is it now going to be Rader Insurance, Rader Sheriff or Rader Commissioner? We have enough Tim Allisons and Cody Parrishs and other public officials who divide their attention between two jobs! Wake up Pegues, we can do better!!
I'm bothered by the fact that anyone would discount a perfectly good candidate simply because they do what needs to be dOne. Larry Wagnon does what he is asked to do, because he sees himself as a public servant. He is an election judge, and works as many elections as he possibly can, be they democratic primaries, or maybe he has to step in to be a judge in the democratic side. In fact, the last time I worked a democratic primary, every single one of the election judges and election workers were republican. It's a matter of being needed, and fulfilling a position that you are asked to fulfill. Perhaps if you did anything like that, you know, volunteered to work an election site or something, you would know how it works. I guess that's just part of being a *special* person that cares about the outcome of and about the political processes which make up the grand scheme of things. So, Mr. Anonymous, do us all a favor and keep your uneducated opinions to yourself until you know a little more about the subject at hand... Then you can come out and play with the big kids.
Furthermore, I would just like to add in my opinion Mr. Wagnon. I have hardly ever seen a person care more about the judicial systems, political corruptions, and overall plain health of a community as much as he does. I know him personally, and his morals and values rival many other Republicans that I know. I'll also tell you this, Mr. Anonymous, that yes, he does have some gaul. I'll go a step further and tell you that the man has outright balls of steel, but he knows when to balance his compassion and that ballsy factor. In fact, there is only one other local politician that I have met that I can compare him to, and that's Mr. Mark Morefield. In fact, I met Mr. Morefield one time, and sat with him for about 45 minutes, talking. I voted for him BECAUSE he reminded me Larry Wagnon, whom I have known much, much longer.
It bothers me when people who know little of politics throw their opinions around, when their opinions are unfounded.

Rader is planning on running for sheriff. That's a fact.
Any elected official needs to work full time or take less than full pay, no matter who they are or how close someone feels toward them for good deeds they have performed. Whether it be JP, constable, police chief, or county commissioner, full pay means full time. The taxpayers deserve nothing less.
Wagnon, dont hitch your Wagon to Wagnon. He always has been a democrap and always will be a democrap. Dont compare him to Morefield, Wagnon is no Morefield.
John
I've personally had the opportunity to meet with Judge Rader on several occasions. Each time, he was sincere and caring in regards to my feelings as a human being, as well as to the precarious situation involved.
Note: The times of which I speak about today, are times of sadness and difficulty.... and take note as well, these " meetings" were not held at the most desirable location either..if you get my drift.
However, even at such a " dark pit of HELL " of a location, and at such a low point in my life...I was given respect at all times from this man.
I must say Judge Bobby Rader, in my opinion of course, is one of the most "NONJUDGMENTAL JUDGES" I know.
He judges the person's BEHAVIOR..NOT the person himself or herself.
I believe his smile is REAL, and that it is a true reflection of his kind soul.
This is my take on the man, from experience. Take it for what is...an OPINION.
Ha ha ha ha! The commentator says Mr. Anonymous doesn't know what he is talking about and implies Larry Wagnon was a Republican filling in where he was needed. Well the only problem with that is Wagnon's voting record identifies him as a Democrat. All the other nonsense about what a man he is and how he is like someone else the commentator met for 45 minutes is too damn stupid to respond to.
*Always been*? I'd invite you to do a bit of fact checking before spewing nonsense, John.
1. You don't know what he's "always been". He's been a resident of Liberty for about ten years.
2. He moved here when he accepted a position at Allison's Funeral Home.
3. Since he has moved here, the man has been involved in as many community organizations and projects as possible. 4.Go ask the VFW Post how they feel about him.
5. Go ask the Rotary Club how they feel about him.
6. Go ask The Lion's Club how they feel about him, and why they would elect him president of their club. Ask them about his performance as president of their club.
You know, I dare you to ask anyone who has known this man on a personal basis.
He is not, nor has he ever been a democrat, and I have known the man for 22 years. I'd like to see you find a democrat who can quote Glenn Beck, and owns every book written by Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and every republican president that we have ever had. You won't find one.
Despite the fact that he has only lived here for ten years or so, this man genuinely cares about this community, and the people within.
I will compare him to Mr. Morefield, because I see the same characteristics... The same compassion, the same ability to get what needs to be done done, and that unwavering sense of right. He runs, he will have mine and many other's votes. People like him, and he has what it takes to take this JP job to the next level.

Let me make a suggestion to the Wagnon fan who tries to promote his pal in such a bizarre way - make my day.Because of your comment I am adopting an "anyone but Larry" attitude toward that race. The Cable Guy should have added the fact that Mary Larry has never showed up in any circles but the donkey circles before he got the bright idea to run as a Republican for JP. NOT!
Lol. What "voting record"? He has never played a hand in politics before, so I don't see where you would know anything about his "voting record".
Put some facts where your slander is. Give me an example.
Meet Larry Wagnon, meet Mark Morefield. They both have two arms, two legs, but from the neck up, at least, they have zero in common. Morefield was a known Republican long before he ran for District Judge.
It must be a nightmare for any Republican official to wake up one morning and be compared to that soft, gurly man Wagnon.
Such hatred coming from "Christians".
Do some fact checking.
And how the hell do you know what his "voting record" is? This is the first time he's ever decided to run for a position, so there is no possible way that you could ever know what his "voting record" is.
I find it disgusting that you people care more about who a person allegedly hangs out with, then you do about actual moral fiber.
Jolsin, John Joslin, is the man who hopes to replace Royce Wheeler as constable in the Cleveland area. He is no friend to Republicans but he will kiss whatever he has to kiss to get the Republican nomination.
Mary Larry? Hahahahahahahahahahaha
So now we are hearing from the idiot section? Wagnon has no voting record becuse he has never held office? What kind of comment is that. He has actively help the local Democratic party in elections and he has a record showing he has voted in the Democratic primary.
Wagnon has been active with EVERYONE except Republicans. Clubs and such, anything to get his name in the paper and get people to feelobligated to vote for him. No Republican connection locally. Ask Andy McCreight, or Weisgerber, or Pegues. No county chairman in the past twelve years can vouch for Mary Larry.
Geez! Lots of folks on here this morning. May I suggest to LD that they do a article on Mr. Wagnon. I read the comment section but LD's stories are written by staunch conservatives that know what is going on. Tell us about this guy. By the way who else is running?
He actively helped the democratic party during elections because he was asked to.
I will reiterate: the last time I worked a democratic primary, all the election judges and officials were republicans.
It's about doing what needs to be done.
Which democratic primary did he vote in? Maybe a the republicans in the republican primary were ignorant douchebags like you, and it was a matter of the "lesser of two evils". Voting in a democratic primary isn't considered a "voting record", and I'd like to see WHICH primary you speak of.
None of you know this man.
And what makes you think it's "anything to get his name in the paper"? He randomly decided to make the move to run for JP about three months ago. He was a member of sever clubs ever since he moved here. What? Did he sit there and say "I'm going to throw my time in with all sorts of clubs and activities just so I can run for a low political position in 10 years"? That's pretty elaborate.
You don't know the man. Anyone who knows him will tell you that he is compassionate, and actually gives a damn. Do you know how hard that is to find?
And what circles? He worked, was on call every night practically, still managed to go to club meetings, and went home to his wife and dogs. He's a social person, but he doesn't "run" in any "circles", and he never has. He's genuine towards anybody and everybody, he doesn't just cast them aside because they believe a different way than he does... Why is that such a problem? Should republicans only be friends with republicans? I hope that never happens, because in a free country with so many opinions and ideas, that would cause the republican party to go extinct pretty quick. Since when did it become such a desireable trait to be a snob?
And you know what, Liberty Dispatch, please do an article on him. Dig as hard as you possibly can.
The truth is that Larry Wagnon is a much better person than Bobby Rader. If Rader decides to not run for sheriff I will vote for Larry anyway.
I do not know Larry Wagnon but if he has only lived here for ten years and all of that ten years has been dedicated to public service then I don't care if he voted in the Democratic Party, he has shown me and everyone else that he loves this county far more than most and that he is willing to lay down his life to better our community.
Can the people who know Larry well please tell us where he moved here from and what he did for a living before moving here and why he moved to Liberty?
I have lived here all ofmy life and with all due respect it is too far fromthe next election to worry about anyone, much less someone whomoved here in 2003. Allow Mr. Wagnon and anyone else who wants this office to plead their case before we question their motivations and look at their affiliations PLEASE.
PLEASE let's eliminate the supporters of the Democrat party from running in our party. Let's do it ASAP.
Who in the hell has appointed the last person who wrote a comment or Liberty Dispatch the gatekeeper to the Republican party? I would think an american citizen could switch parties whenever they choose for whatever reason they choose. An american citizen should not have to answer to anyone!
WE THE PEOLPE includes me and thank God it includes LD.
He moved from Edmond, Oklahoma. He has worked as funeral director for many, many years. He moved to Liberty, after living in Austin for a few months, when the job position fell through... He then accepted the job here in Liberty.
In Edmond, he was also a member of Lion's Club and Rotary. He has always enjoyed being involved in the communities he lives in.
He is a veteran. He volunteers to drive a bus which takes local veterans to the VFW hospital in the Houston area.
He is a GOOD man, with a track record that proves that beyond a reasonable doubt, and that puts him high in my opinions, regardless about what anyone says about his political affiliation. The fact that he can cross lines, and NOT shun a group of people simply because their political values differ from his, says ALOT.
I wish we had more candidates like him. It would be nice to have more people who care more about the people that they are serving than about the visage of the office they hold. Appearances mean too much to so many people, but this is one man who I can say beyond a doubt that his appearances mean little in comparison to the bigger picture.
Again, before opening your mouths and spewing utter ignorance and hatred of someone you know nothing about, I suggest you do your research. It's a wonder why people think the republican party has a problem with ignorance, very few of you actually look into anything other than visages and basic media portrayals. You know nothing, and you disgrace your own party. DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE POSTING OUTRIGHT LIES AND ASSUMPTIONS.
Yea! Republicans are rich, lying dogs!! Go Larry, we are behind you 110%!!!
"The position fell through" in Austin? Did the position fall through in Liberty recently?
Okay, let me get this straight. Larry Wagnon moved here 10 years ago and someone writing on here has known Larry for 22 years? Please explain.
Larry wagnon is too good of a man to have to put up with the gauntlet surrounding public office. We should all be thankful for his willingness to offer himself as a candidate for office. he could have run in either party, but he has chosen republican. They should embrace him and celebrate knowing we have such a great man to judge our criminals.
He moved here ten years ago, I have lived here for approximately five. I knew him before.
He was offered a better position here, for the same company. The one in Austin didn't need quite so many funeral directors.
Are you asking why he is no longer a funeral director for Allison's?
He retired. I like to think that at his age, with his military background and the fact that he continued to work past retirement age, he should be allowed to do that without any scrutiny.
Oh really! You knew him beofre he moved here. Where did you know him from?
Larry deserves the respect we show all veterans.
Can someone please tell us when and where and under hwat branch Larry Wagnon served. How long was he in and what ranked was he?
Can someone tell me how Richard Pegues writing an article about what kind of work it will take to fill Bobby Rader's shoes ended up in a cheerleading section for Larry Wagnon yelling at a conservatives who say he has not shown them anything in his entire life here?
John "Baldy" Joslin has no business being in law enforcement, much less running a constable's office.
Republicans are psycho Larry. Your supporter said it right. Run as a Democrat. We will support you.
Larry Wagnon is an idiot, I wouldn't vote for him as dog catcher. And to the girl who is defending Wagnon, when you type the word Republican you capitalize the word Republican you bimbo.
Lol. The word "republican" does not require capitalization, pending it's usage.
Before picking on my grammar, perhaps you should check your own, nitwit.
You are nothing but a stinking Liberal Democrat showing your true colors by disrespecting the Republican name. You have no right to even use the name or say it. Your attitude just goes to show us all here and throughout Pct. 1 that Wagnon is the WRONG person for the job with supporters like you.
You are certainly a reflection of Wagnon.
Wagnon is a carpetbagger and probably gay.
Hey Jessica, we have a news flash for you, no one here cares what you say or think about comments here. Free Country, 1st amendment, ever heard of it? -nitwit
Democrat worms trying to act out on LD because they cant control it or the comments. lmfao
Prediction, Wagnon will suffer a humiliating loss if he runs for office.
Does it matter to anyone if Larry is qualified in anyway to be a justice of the peace or is it all about a party issue?
