Texas State Rep. John Otto Brags About Sending Us More Taxes, Again...

State Representative John Otto is at it again. First he and Liberty County Attorney Wes Hinch try to start a multi-county water district to meter and tax our water wells, now he is trying to tax our internet purchases. He comes home to Dayton and gives us eyewitness accounts of what conservatives led on like the recent pro life legislation and then later we find out what he led on while in Austin. John Otto once again led on trying to raise new taxes.

Otto called it the “Nexus” bill, but no matter what you call it, it is Otto’s newest scheme to raise taxes. When reading Otto’s bill it is difficult to not be reminded of when he and County Attorney Wes Hinch promoted a scheme to tax us on our water wells. That effort was defeated and Otto and Hinch were forever branded as politicians who tried to associate with conservatives while acting like tax and spend Democrats.

Eventually the fiscal matters bill had this added as an amendment, John Otto said he originally authored the tax as a bill to redefine what it means to be a retailer doing business in Texas. Taxpayers will see Otto’s efforts as an effort to redefine what it is to be a Republican. Otto continues to try and hide the thrust of his work as our representative. He continues to find ways to take money out of taxpayers’ pockets and send it up to Austin for politicians to play with and call it something other than a tax.

The good news is that online retail giant Amazon.com’s is taking legal action to remain sales tax exempt for internet sales. Additional good news is that recent redistricting of the area John Otto runs for office in may turn up a real conservative to run for this position.

Do we need more taxes in this economy? Can Otto get his pals in Austin to just tighten their belt and slow down on the spending?

This internet tax is a bad idea but not near the scandal Wes Hinch and John Otto tried with the ground water scam.

Why in the world would John Otto continue to push this tax scheme after Perry vetoed it? John wanted to tax us so badly he had it attached to another bill! He knew the other bill was important to conservatives and that Perry would not vetoe it. Is Otto a Democrat in Republican disguise?

Lots of people have difficult days. Some things go with some jobs and are known about when you sign up. The real shame is not hiring a psychic to let them know these things were going to happen and then they might have been prevented.

Speaking of water, there was a public meeting on Thursday night regarding the City of Houston building a new pumping station between Liberty and Cleveland, and pumping more water from the Trinity River through 26 miles of piping and open canals, all the way to the upper end of Lake Houston. Folks over there in Harris County are thirsty. What does Liberty and Chambers counties get in return?

""What 'does' (try: "do") Liberty and Chambers counties get in return""?

that's easy: a lot drier, downstream!

Bottom line is that Lake Houston was planned and built when Houston was half a million people, not five million. That's why they're greedily eyeing every river in SE Texas- none of which have enough water right now, to fill their thirst.

Welcome to the concept of eminent domain!

http://www.legal-explanations.com/definitions/eminent-domain.htm

translates to: yay, them... foo on YOU! The only thing big brother understands is "winchesters and remingtons" gathering at the courthouses. The cowards back down every time!

Of course, our fair state has a long history of range wars over water (as does the desert southwest, over the waters of the Colorado.) Every drop has been fully adjudicated in the courts.

Prediction: Texas will have the same scenario for every river and lake within 100 miles of any city.
(and you thought that job loss was the only result of illegal immigration? No, they drink up the water too! (and use up every other limited resource that you can name, as well)!
