According to records obtained from the 198th District Court in Kerr County, Phillip Lorne Lovin, 47, of San Antonio, pleaded guilty to arson and insurance fraud on July 9.
Lovin is a former pastor of Midway Baptist Church in Dayton and also served as the chaplain for the Westlake Volunteer Fire Department in 2008.
According to court documents, Lovin burned his own house down in Harper, Texas, after placing flares, gas, hay and an old, dried-out Christmas tree in his attic and setting it on fire. He filed an insurance claim on the incident afterward.
On September 8, 2008, Lovin participated in a flag retirement ceremony and 9-11 memorial service along with State Rep. John Otto at the Westlake Volunteer Fire Department fire station."

Notice "King Otto" on the left and Philip Lovin on the far right. Is this more crazy Otto support for goofy initiatives, goofy profiteers and goofy programs? Does Otto ever check who or what he supports?

Wouldn't be the first goofy program he was associated with and wouldn't be the last.
Where was his aid Terry Bivins, why didnt she investigate this photo op? What kind of aid allows their boss to photo op with a fraudster and arsonist?
Yes indeed goofy and fraud programs. Wye just look at the property Tax deal, where Otto was to get our property taxs lowered or frozen. My property taxs have really gone down, how about yours?
the school tax rate went down, while the appraisals were jacked up, for a net of zero. Now, the school rates have climbed for three years, and we're worse off than before.
Worse still, in January, we get the Obama double whammy: One the full brunt of the cost of Obama-care. Two: the Clinton tax rates return (but the media spin calls it: the 'Bush tax cuts' expiring').
Together, this is a net decline of $10 grand to a middle class household's disposable income!
If your votes aren't decided yet, your wallet will potty train you, come 2011!
John Otto is not a very friendly person but I would still vote for him if he would represent conservatives better. Until he does or a Republican runs against him, I leave that area of the ballot blank.
Yes..clearly the photo taken what 2 years ago is a clear indicator that Representative Otto supports a man that burned his own house down for the insurance money..I'm not convinced.
Otto is more active in Austin but his office is the least helpful state representative office we have ever had in this area. His people seem bound and determined to screen him from contact with his voters who call in. They need to visit another state representative's offices and learn how to do a better job.
Otto lives a charmed life. By the time he ran voters had become aware of how liberal and misguided that the Zbranek family is and they were more than happy to vote for anyone that was not associated with them. John does a good job on some issues, but he is not what I would call a true conservative. Like someone said, his best work is when the Congess is in session and what will eventually beat him is he keeps giving friends jobs rather than hire qualified experienced people.
One question for you Mr. Otto: Are you doing the best you can in the way you run your local office? If you are, let me predict that after this next election you will get your first serious opponent. It will be a Republican and they will challenge you on this issue more than any other.
Hey why you guy picking on a Republians? First you mention Norma Brown's connection to the FEMA scndal and now you take Otto who has no Democratic oppositionand you open his home office problems up to criticism. Are you bored?
Bored? Maybe they have called and had to listen to Terry Bibbens give here take on a problem they wanted to talk to Otto about. I don't call to get professional help and end up taking advice from a smoozer! I dont think they are bored I thin they want people to do the job we voted for them to do or retire.
Nobody should get a free pass. Especially Republicans who campaign for a Democrat. Whatever happened to some kind of loyalty and consistency? Otto sure as heck better not ask us to vote for him because he is Republican and stand by while his office whispers to people to vote for a Democrat. I am from Dayton and I am not voting for someone because my kid played dixie league with their kid. I could care less which part of this county a canidate is from or my wife is friends with their wife. I am voting to rid this county of the underhanded deals that come when you allow pople to think they will run this place no matter what they get caught doing!
It isnot Terry "Bibbens", it is Bivens. She has been a huge supporter of two Democrats in the past. I have had no dealngs with her this year, but I know she is real ivolved in the local Republican group. How dangerous is that?
