MOTIVATIONS QUESTIONED

Buyer beware is what they say in the retail business when you may not be getting what you think you are. Liberty Dispatch has been warning voters of a simliar proposition to us as voters in Liberty County. But rather than ask readers to look at this election through our eyes, we want readers to think for themselves as you examine the political scene.

For months we have warned voters of behind the scenes manipulations by Democrats as C. T. "Rusty" Hight, Liz Beausoliel,Phil Fitzgerald, Zack Zbranek and others used Hight's connections to his father-in-law Lester Wisegerber(the Republican Party Chairman before his recent defeat) and their persuasiveness with Michelle Merendino. But today we want to ask readers to think about one question and come to their own conclusion without assuming what seems obvious to us - that Merendino (a Republican) was talked into running by Hight and Beausoliel and Zbranek (all staunc Democrats).

Here is the question: "Why did Michelle Merendino run for the 253rd District Judge's bench instead of the 75th District Judge's bench?

When Merendino decided to run as a Republican she had two district judgeships to consider. She could run in the 253rd and have a primary opponent who has won every election he as ever been in or she could run in the 75th and fill the request Republicans have had for years...candidates to change this seat to a Republican seat. She chose to run in the 253rd. Thank God for Mark Morefield, a well respected and very successful local attorney who decided that it was time for someone to challenge Democrats and run for this seat.

True, the race for the 253rd had party switcher Chap Cain in the Republican primary but in the 75th Rusty Hight initialy had no opponent. Merendino chose to run against one of the top vote getters in Liberty County...against someone who has been a judge for nearly two decades and who received votes from both sides of the political spectrum regardless of party affliation. She chose to run against Judge Cain and, from what we have seen and heard from her campaign, she chose to run against him offering very little to voters in the way of specifics as to why they shouldn't vote for the man they have voted for many times in the past. Why did she choose to run against the stronger of the two judges?

Despite the Republicans need for someone to run against Rusty Hight, Merendino passed on the opportunity. Instead she chose to run against a judge who has documented ethical shortcomings, such as the case he was reprimanded for changing a legal document in order to win in a child custody case. Meredino decided to run as a Republican against the only incumbent Democrat Judge to expose a scandal in the courthouse in our lifetimes. Why didn't Merendino run against the judge that has ethical question circling him like buzzards over roadkill?

Liberty Dispatch has been frustrated for years about strong ties to the Democrat Party among some of the leadership within the Republican Party. Almost everyone in this country can proudly claim they "vote for the man" not the party if that is their viewpoint, but there is an exception. Leadership within a party owes it to the public to work hard for the candidates from their party. If they do have someone they feel is unacceptabe sign up to run in their party, they should be open with their decision if they decide not to support them.

This all leads up to our parting question: "What kind of judges and what kind of county judge would participate in this kind of deception?"

Rusty has always talked out of both sides of his rear end. As a kid, he would just as soon make up a story as tell the truth.

When Liz or Mark Beausoliel are involved none of the rules or ethical boundaries apply.

Zbranek and Hight do not have the intellectual capacity or social skills to live up to their hero, Democratic legend Zeke Zbranek. But they will do just about anything to try.

Is it true Cain put Morefield up to run against Hight?

I thought we were suppose to make up our own minds. You concluded this article by assuming we belived these people are deceptive.

Judge Cain may have talked to Morefield about running. But Cain and Morefield are both running as Republicans. What is deceptive about that? Morefield, though he has kept his politics out of his law practice, has said he was a Republican for years.

This may be the first time you have read an editorial comment, but please make up your own mind based on the part of the editorial that ask and analyzes the question about why Merendino ran for the judgeship she ran for. An editorial can offer a portion of its space to ponder, but the purpose of an editorial is to express a point of view.

I don't give a sh*t about why Merendino ran against Cain, I just wish she had won. He is the most arrogant son of b*tch in a courthouse full of em. Hight finishes in a close second. Merendino left a stench on herself from buddying up to Fitzgerald and Hight and that skanky Beausoliel pair.

Merendino stirred up more of the Wisegerber thinking while she was in the Republican huddle. She may be a nice person but her allegiance is more to Hight than to any party principles or platform.

Cain's court is the major court as it covers both Chambers and Liberty County. Maybe Merendino wanted it because she believed she could do a better job than Cain. Almost all attorneys have an arrogant attitude behind these judges' backs that they can do a better job and that when they are judge they will be more fair and less uppity. She probably is like 99% of the attorneys I know.

I will confess I never have liked Cain. I just think every judge I have ever known needs to be term limited. They start out with bigheads and end with bigger heads. I can say however that Cain has always sounded more Republican when he wasn't campaigning than he has Democrat. He is pro life, tough on criminals, and conservative. As a judge most of that may never effect anything, but at least he is now separated from the activities of a party he never lined up with.

Say what you wan about Judge Hight but he has stayed true and vigilante to the Democratic party. There has never been a doubt. He surrounds himself with people like Liz Beausoliel and John Archer because these are our leaders and he has no hidden agenda. I am not saying he did, but if he got Michelle to run against Cain it may have been because he thought she had a better chance in the Republcan primary of defeating someone he does not like. Democrats have a right to be angry with Cain. Rather than try and settle differnces with Fitzgerald within the party, Cain squealed and then ran away. Four years from now when we have time to prepare, it will be a differentb story.

Talk about deception, some long-time Democrats switched parties to run as Republicans. They know why they did it and one has been heard saying why. And it isn't because suddenly they have become one of us.

Mark Morefield doesn't have a political bone in his body. His reason for running for Judge would be that he will be an excellent Judge and I'm sure there are things that he's seen in his years in Liberty County that he doesn't like and wants to change them. I know for a fact that he has seen Rusty Hight handle attorneys in slanderous fashion if they happen to represent someone that he doesn't like. You won't find a fairer, more honest man or a judge with more legal knowledge than Mark Morefield.

Reality check Republicans: Yes some people will switch parties because they think the voters are leaning toward the Republican party and they can win, but the ones that switch After THIS ELECTION ARE SWITCHING WAY PAST THE DEADLINE. If you are a Democrat tired of Obama and Pelosi announce it NOW and make it LOUD and CLEAR. If you wait any longer it will not be because Republicans finally have a chance, it will be because Democrats don't.

We only have a few dems to be rid of in Liberty County, that includes CT Hight. Congratulations Liberty Dispatch.

Politics ain't for sissies. Mommas that are runing tell you boys to stay out of it, Momma can handle herself just fine.

Telling a boy from Texas to keep out of people talking trash about their mothers is like telling a duck not to swim it doesn't work.

They ought to be forced to read Liberty Dispatch from their cells. I am so sick and tired of the good ole boy system in this town and the goofy people who have lived here forever never quite understanding how to get rid of it. Vote them out, before we go through the embarssment one day of half of them being drug out in chains.

Heck vote them out before we start geting second generations of them or the family plan! Can you imagine Uncle and Nephew : Hight and Zbranek on two of the benches. All of a sudden Zeb and Angela Zbranek will be the most sought after lawyers in town. It makes me ill to think of this being called a justice system.

This is the way the system works in Liberty County. These public offices are handed down from generation to generation and have become a family business of living off the Taxpayers of Liberty County. There should be a term limit to some of these positions, in order to stop this from happening. Just look at the fine Hospital District mess. I don't know who would want to be involved with this Hospital District. This is just another example of politicians wnating to make a name for themselves on the Taxpayers dollar.

Talking about the Hospital District, There was a child having stomach pains at Hull-Daisetta on Monday, the Ambulance was called out and they took this child to a Beaumont Hospital. Now why would they do this if there was a Hospital in Liberty? Answer; There is not a Hospital in Liberty,it is a first aid station and we are being TAXED for a Hospital District. The Ambulance transported this child to Beaumont, in case he had appendicitus, he could recieve the help that he needed. When are we going to put a stop to this Hospital District TAX RAPE of the property Owners in Liberty County? There is an attorney bringing a lawsuit against Liberty County Appraisal District for outragious Property Values. I think I will call and talk to him about this Hospital District.

RH, LB, MB, PF, ZZ, LW, NA, JA, HG, VM.... reminds me of NYC TV news, circa 1999 ("all Hillary, all the time".) I realize the political aims of the dispatch... but the same names, day after day, article after bashing article?

Sorry, they simply aren't that RELEVANT to those of us who've discovered that tiny little UNIVERSE.... beyond the Liberty/Moss Hill city limits! (not to mention, the hundreds of TRILLIONS, that their hooks AREN'T in...)

I agree with last month's poster.... who wrote about moving in from elsewhere, never had HEARD of that crew.... then, moved away again...only to find that none of her NEW neighbors, coworkers, friends.... had ever heard of them EITHER!

I've always found that such little cliques and fiefdoms.... have ZERO influence beyond their immediate circles. They simply don't run the world.... just pittances, in obscure corners and niches. However, they often have a pre-bought media drone (beehive term, for 'non-thinking worker'), paid to give the opposite appearance (VM's function).

"vote them out"? I agree... Exactly what happened to Cleveland's city council, on May 8th. (that little clique is STILL in stunned disbelief!) Just wait until they realize that it will be 24 months, until enough seats are available, to regain control! (Nothing another good hundred, or so, funerals won't permanently prevent! Anybody got a good virus or epidemic to spread around?)

Yes, folks... The "vote 'em out" method WORKS!
