Historic Candidate Surge in 2012 Iowa Republican Caucus
On January 4, 2012 Ray and Debra Akins enjoyed their visits with Rick Santorum and his staff in Iowa. Rick Santorum's rally's were some of the most energy charged of them all.
Debra Akins: "Mr. Santorum is a straight up guy 100% conservative. His rapid progress in Iowa was exciting to behold and be a part of."
Ray: "Mr. Santorum may come to Liberty County."

Where is the Liberty County Media? Afraid of Henry Patterson's Cult Connection?
What the heck is going on around here! Last election we had a man from Kingwood work on what appeared to be an upgrade on a hunting camp and claim Liberty County residency so he would be qualified to run for County Judge. This election we have a man renting a garage apartment in order to establish residency in order to run for county attorney. His landlords say he has never spent one night in the apartment.
Where is the media? It is not like we have not given them all of the facts to report the news to their audience. Why is James Farmer not buried in news stories about him never actually living here but trying to make it appear he does? Is the county attorney position not important? Do the local media think voters do not want to hear about this immediately?
For people new to Liberty County we must post a disclaimer about the subject of residency. Ray Akins, a political activists associated with Liberty Dispatch, was signed up a couple of years ago to run for the hospital district board. The local media went nuts. After reviewing the residency laws, Akins was in a much more defensible position to claim residency than Ken Morrison (2010 candidate for County Judge) or James Farmer (2012 candidate for Count Attorney). Akins never fought against the onslaught of media over running for a hospital board position even though he clearly owns property and resides part of the year in Liberty and frequently stays in his residence within the hospital boundaries.
Why the silence from the media? People in this county may or may not be fans of our politics, but if the media want to find people almost all of us agree need to stay out of Liberty County politics, it is people who are the (Cult) Outsiders. Recently, local media reported that an outsider filed a complaint on technical failures of one of our judges. The judge (and almost every Liberty County politician in the last thirty years) needs to be more careful, but Liberty County’s media needs to answer a question the rest of us want to know the answer to: “Who is this Tom Curry, and why is he all up in Liberty County’s business?”
Tom Curry, according to Montgomery County Presiding District Court Judge P.K. Reiter, has a “fraudulent voter registration to vote and (his) votes were fraudulent”. And there is a strong possibility he is tied to Henry Patterson’s re-election/political team.
Is it not newsworthy that another outsider is weighing in and siding with Sheriff Patterson’s team to undo what the voters did in the Republican landslide of 2010? The up for a lowly unpaid media jumped on a man who lives here for signing up to run for a hospital district position, but gives Patterson’s people to weigh in on much larger matters without a peep?
Is the local media afraid of the Liberty County Sheriff Henry Patterson's Cult connection, "The Outsiders"? Are they afraid these people will go back twenty years to trump up "accusations" against people?
All that has ever been leveled against Ray Akins is ALLEGATIONS and NOTHING has ever been proven against him by his political opponents either civil or criminal EVER in a court of law. Ray Akins stands firm in his resolve to help Liberty County elect the best candidates as does Liberty Dispatch. Akins political opponents think by attacking Akins with allegations that have been made against him it will help Henry Patterson, it will not...
Come on, what are you afraid of Liberty News Media, all they can do is accuse. Do you have the courage to report on this cult? Do you have the courage to report Henry Patterson and James Farmer's connections to this cult? I guess we shall all see...

LIBERAL DEMOCRAT HACK TAKES CHEAP SHOT AT CANDIDATE
![]() |
Democrat Hack, Alan Colmes and Presidential Candidate, Rick Santorum |
Santorum’s family experienced the painful loss when his wife Karen went to get an ultrasound of their unborn baby Gabriel. The doctor told the couple, “Your son has a fatal defect and is going to die.” But Gabriel was born alive.
As Santorum recalls, “For two hours he lived a life that knew only love.”
During an appearance on Fox News, Colmes said “Once they get a hold of the crazy things he’s said and done like taking his two-hour old baby who died right after childbirth home and played with it for a couple of hours so his other children would know that the child was real.”
Rich Lowry, a conservative writer for National Review, retorted: “That’s a cheap shot, Alan. To say it’s crazy, something that’s that personal and hurtful as losing a child and to mock it like that is beyond the pale and beneath you. I even think some of the dastardly characters we have in the main stream media are not going to go as low as you just have Alan.”
Colmes later shamelessly and "publicly" tweeted an apology- no phone call, no private communication.
Pro-Abortion Advocate Leader of the (DNC) Democrat Party
![]() |
Debbie Wasserman-Schultz(D), Born September 27, 1966 |
According to a CNN report, Obama praised her election, saying Wasserman Schultz “stays focused and accomplishes goals,” and telling Democrats, “Thanks for supporting Debbie. I know it will be a tough 18 more months but I know we’re going to get this thing done.”
On abortion:
Ironically, on the very day she was voted in as Chairperson for the DNC she made her historical mark by voting- "Voted NO on banning federal health coverage that includes abortion."
Wasserman-Schultz is a longtime abortion advocate who has represented a Florida congressional district since 2005 from the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area. Before that she held a post in the Florida state House. After raising over $17 million in campaign contributions for her Democratic colleagues — the third most of any member of the House — party leaders chose her to become the Chief Deputy Whip.
Talking of the Republican stance on abortion- Debbie Wasserman-Schultz: Saying Life Begins at Conception Is ‘Extreme and Radical’

On the TEA Party- her immediate list of offensive tirades go on.
Recently Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, D-Fla., speaking in New Hampshire reminded her audience of the tragic Tucson shooting last year and also insinuated that the Tea Party, which she said regards political opponents as "the enemy," has enhanced divisiveness in Congress and had something to do with the shooting, at least indirectly. (This is an outrageous and irresponsible claim not based in any fact.)
"We need to make sure that we tone things down, particularly in light of the Tucson tragedy from a year ago, where my very good friend, Gabby Giffords -- who is doing really well, by the way, -- [was shot]," Wasserman-Schultz, the Democratic National Committee chair said during a "Politics and Eggs" forum this morning. "The discourse in America, the discourse in Congress in particular . . . has really changed, I'll tell you. I hesitate to place blame, but I have noticed it take a very precipitous turn towards edginess and lack of civility with the growth of the Tea Party movement."
Having brought up the Giffords attack as a political cudgel, Wasserman-Schultz doubled down on that attack. "You had town hall meetings that [the Tea Party] tried to take over, and you saw some their conduct at those town hall meetings," Wasserman-Schultz said- "When they come and disagree with you, you're not just wrong, you're the enemy."
On Republicans:
Debbie Wasserman-Schultz: The Republican Debates Are "Appalling" Because They Are All "Busy Trying To Out Right-Wing Each Other".
Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, says that the DNC chairwoman "blamed the Republicans for the creation of Hamas etc."
In October of 2011, during a townhall meeting at a Jewish Community Center in Pembroke Pines, Florida, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz stated that Hamas and other Arab terrorist groups came to power because of former President George W. Bush’s push for democracy in “Gaza and West Bank,” and said “the rise of Hamas is thanks to quote -un-quote democracy.” She went on to say the Republican Platform supported Bush's actions. The Democratic National Committee chairwoman then asserted that the "Obama administration is keeping an ever-watchful eye on Arab Spring nations".
Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz(D) on the economy:
“We own the economy. We own the beginning of the turnaround and we want to make sure that we continue that pace of recovery, not go back to the policies of the past under the Bush administration that put us in the ditch in the first place”.
Wasserman-Schultz said Democrats aren’t in need of a new story to tell about the economy because they’ve put the right policies in place. “I don’t think it’s about what we say, it’s about what we do.”
Voted NO on terminating the Home Affordable mortgage Program. (Mar 2011)
Voted YES on $192B additional anti-recession stimulus spending. (Jul 2009)
Voted YES on modifying bankruptcy rules to avoid mortgage foreclosures. (Mar 2009)
Voted YES on additional $825 billion for economic recovery package. (Jan 2009)
Voted YES on monitoring TARP funds to ensure more mortgage relief. (Jan 2009)
Voted YES on $15B bailout for GM and Chrysler. (Dec 2008)
Voted YES on $60B stimulus package for jobs, infrastructure, & energy. (Sep 2008)
Voted YES on defining "energy emergency" on federal gas prices. (Jun 2008)
Voted YES on revitalizing severely distressed public housing. (Jan 2008)
Voted YES on regulating the subprime mortgage industry. (Nov 2007)
Member of House Budget Committee. (Mar 2011)
Welfare:
Voted YES on instituting National Service as a new social invention. (Mar 2009)
Voted YES on providing $70 million for Section 8 Housing vouchers. (Jun 2006)
...
Her common thread in most her public appearances is to paint Republicans and the Republican Platform as "radical" - "politically incorrect" and "subversive". Her projection is in fact what her party really is and has become her historical mantra.
Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz along with her cohort Barack Hussein Obama II are the two most powerful enemies to our Republican Platform and cause in and outside the Washington, DC beltway.
It is our duty twice this year to send these two people a loud and clear message that there is no room for them in our lives or business.

PRESS RELEASE: CRAIG JAMES RUNS FOR U.S. SENATE
(Austin, TX) Conservative Texas rancher, businessman and former broadcaster and football great, Craig James, today announced his intention to “rock the boat in Washington” as he officially began his campaign to represent Texas in the U.S. Senate. Speaking to reporters assembled at the historic Driskill Hotel, James talked about his desire to take a stand against an increasingly intrusive, inept federal government.
“America is the greatest nation on earth and Texas is its greatest state,” said James.“Unfortunately, the conservative values that have made us great and the economic freedom that has made us the envy of the nation are being diminished by a federal government that has spun completely out of control. I am running for the U.S. Senate to help get our country back on track.”
Focusing on the essential tasks of cutting wasteful government spending, reducing taxes and shrinking the federal government, James intends to draw upon his experience in the private sector to shake things up.
“The status quo in Washington is dragging our country down. It’s time for an outsider’s perspective from a leader who knows what it’s like in the real world,” continued the fifth-generation Texan. “I know firsthand what it’s like to deal with the tax and regulatory burdens that weigh down our job creators and I will do my part to unleash the economic power of our state and nation.”
As he promised to fight for smaller government, James also pledged to advocate for the essential conservative values that form the foundation of our nation.
“I’m about faith, family and the Constitution,” concluded James. “Those simple yet profound elements define who we are as a nation. In the final accounting, America is great because Americans are good. I am blessed to live in this country and obliged to serve.”
Vows to overturn Obamacare, cut wasteful government spending and pursue a balanced budget

CAN BUSINESSMAN WILL COX WIN THE CLEVELAND VOTE?
Some people may have pinched themselves at the first of the year when they saw Will Cox had thrown his name in the 2012 Republican primary hat for sheriff. Cox has run for sheriff several times but it has been several years since he made a run. Some may have needed a reality check feeling like they were in some kind of time warp. After all if elected, Will Cox would be seventy three years old near the end of his term.
But don’t look to us to be negative about Will. When running Republican in a local race in Liberty County was a sure death nail to any one brave enough to do it, Will ran at a great personal expense of both time and money. And when he lost narrowly in his first bid for sheriff, what was his response? To run again…
We don’t expect to hear one word of negative political rhetoric from Republicans about someone who was such an important part of keeping the Republican Party alive until these much better times for conservatives. Will’s tireless; often door to door campaigning in the 1990’s set a standard for local candidates that are still referred to by longtime activists as what you should do when everything else has been done.
Will obviously has witnessed the last three years of former Cleveland Assistant Police Chief Henry Patterson’s attempt to fill the shoes of the Liberty County Sheriff and he thinks he can do a better job. According to comments sent into LD the question of whether a 2012 Will Cox candidacy attract a significant number of voters may come ox down to the base of conservative voters in his own backyard. Despite the fact Henry Patterson is thought to be dead in the water in his re-election bid because of his controversial relationships with outsiders and his lackluster performance as sheriff, some people have suggested Will can not hold on to the conservative base of voters he has had for almost twenty years in the Cleveland and Plum Grove area because of friendships and alliances Patterson has in that area.
Whatever happens… Will Cox has already cemented his place in the minds of those who keep up with the history of the rise of the Republican Party in Liberty County. While Liberty Dispatch is supporting Bobby Rader and hopes that the effort to replace Sheriff Patterson and improve, not only the sheriff’s department, but the actual outcome voters witness when they elect a local Republican – we also are concerned the late entry of Will Cox could split off enough votes for change that the outsiders could come too close to getting four more years of running the sheriff than is comfortable.
No doubt, Patterson’s campaign will sooner or later attack Bobby Rader through the mail and robo calls and depend on neighbors not turning to Will in the north part of the county. LD encourages republican voters to salute Will Cox and his years of hard work and (sorry Will) to vote for Bobby Rader. Otherwise, Liberty County voters will open the door to making the outsiders dreams come true – a split vote with Patterson squeaking out enough uninformed voters to get re-elected.

Dear Liberty Dispatch,
Purely by coincidence, I sat near one of the Breakfasts King’s early morning meetings a couple of weeks ago and I gotta tell ya, it is entirely possible Henry Patterson is telling the truth. He is available to any voter who wants to have a 5:30 in the morning breakfast in Cleveland.
It is noteworthy that in 45 minutes I sat near the sheriff and his posse of biscuit eaters, not one time did I see anyone who would qualify as a voter who just dropped by to visit with the sheriff. But if there had been one, it is entirely possible that voter could have interrupted the good ole boys in between their passing the biscuits and talking shop.
Also noteworthy, no talk of the strain the rising cost of running the jail and how to reduce the problems happening there almost every week. I would not call these meeting problem solving meetings or town halls. I would call them more like a clique of good old boys who meet to make sure everything, especially politics, is going their way.
I must say I was troubled to hear some of the negative things I heard said about some in our community. But it is noteworthy to say none of the negative talk came from the sheriff. I don’t know the players in this game well enough to tell you who said what, but the sheriff was more of a spectator than anything. The sheriff seemed to care less.
What did I get out of sitting next to their breakfast? Two biscuits, two strips of bacon, and two eggs over easy. What is my advice to anyone thinking of attending? Unless you are from Cleveland, you probably have pretty good morning vittles closer to you than the Hot Biscuit. Who do I think you ought to vote for? Next time I am voting for pancakes and sausage. The biscuit crowd has sold me on one thing and that is that they have no clue.
