T.J. Aulds, writer for The Daily News is reporting that Liberty ISD Superintendent Dr. Cynthia Lusignola was just voted to be the Texas City ISD’s next superintendent with a unanimous vote Tuesday.
According to Aulds, school board president Hal Biery hailed Lusignolo's experience in a school district that has a large industrial base like Texas City. She will start on the job July 1 and her first priority will be to "go to school" and meet with community, business and industry leaders to get a better feel for the school district.
Lusignolo told the paper she was excited to join the district and bragged about the community support for the school district as she donned a black and orange outfit reflecting school colors.
Lusignola’s departure from Liberty’s single largest employer may catch some off guard, but others have noted her house has been up for sale for weeks. Her unsuccessful attempts to raise bond money for school improvements and the budget shortfall that caused cutbacks in staffing were areas her detractors would point to as examples of her leadership. While her willingness to teach an algebra class herself and her constant consistent drive for excellence would be what her fans would highlight.
Fan or foe, LISD is expected to almost immediately appoint an interim superintendent. An interim will fill the shoes while the school board is expected to try and collect and analyze applications and find their next educational leader towards the end of June.

It was a tough time to be in charge here.I wish her luck in her new ISD.
I voted against the bonds but had nothing aggainst Dr. Lusignola. Godspeed.
Wow! I didn't see that coming. She caused fear and trembling among many of the teachers. We need to hire someone who leads using sugar and a carrot more than a stick and walking papers.
Bye bye!
That isn't the only sup't home for sale in LC, who's looking for a job. Hope ours gets a moving truck too.
Darn it! We wanted to get rid of our superintendent. Oh well, domino effect! Fill out the next application, add Liberty to the prospect list.
i don't blame her for leaving. the community support for our schools is embarrassing. we have a small group that carry the load while the rest do nothing. LISD will be hard pressed to retain a good superintendent for any length of time if the residents of liberty are not willing to give the district the support and money it needs. our children and our educators deserve better. education is an investment in the future for all of us.
OMG ^^^^^^^^ the "give us unlimited money, or we won't keep a good sup't" mentality. PLEASE!!!
We've poured BILLIONS into education, since the 70's, and
*the scores keep dropping, and
*the kids keep getting dumber, and *the parents- worse.
When will we learn: the solution is NOT- "pour money on it, and it will go away"? Who's the bigger set of spoiled brats, here: the administrators, school boards, or the kids???
Quit trebling the salaries, just because somebody left. Quit trying to outbid every district, five times your size.
Here we go again: the dumb and dumber of competitive spendthrifts! It's a surefire fiscal disaster.
^^^^^^^ he's sure right about that. One room schoolhouses, with sack lunches. That costs a teeny fraction of what we pay for these gang land, crime zone, palaces- that we have now. Then, we could eliminate all those stuffed shirts and windbags- in the district, region, and state offices.
What teacher wouldn't take fifteen kids, in her own living room, at $6000 per kid, that the state pays for this EXTREMELY WASTEFUL system (tons of school districts get far more, per kid, than that.)
She'd double her salary, have less problems, a smaller class size, and the kids would get better educations, all around.
Learn something, people. Bigger is not better! More money is not higher quality. Fire all your money sucking school boards and administrators.
They're incompetent.
NOW, you're TALKING!!!
Exactly! That's why ALL our best teachers now teach at the prison in Dayton! Duh!
