Local Liberty businessman Bobby Rader has announced his candidacy for the position of Liberty County Sheriff, running on the Republican Party ticket.
(Liberty, Texas - 11/28/2011) Rader, who has served as Justice of the Peace since January, 1999 and as the city of Liberty Municipal Judge since 2004, brings considerable experience from the business, law enforcement and volunteer arenas to the race.
Rader, the owner of Hall, Rader and Associates, has been involved locally in Liberty since his six-year stint as a Department of Public safety trooper. In 1980, he left the Department and began a career in the insurance industry where he runs a multi-line business. During his residency in Liberty, he raised a family, remained active in community affairs and has been a visible volunteer in local civic clubs, sports groups and educational endeavors.
Rader believes that with his background he will bring much needed change to the Sheriff's Department. "Having worked closely with the past three sheriffs, I have seen things that were good and things that I believe could have been handled better. I would like to make some changes that will better serve all the residents of Liberty County."
The sheriff's position Is Liberty County's top law enforcement officer, a position that includes several components. Along with an administrative component, the job is charged with maintaining the peace and protecting the lives and property of Liberty County citizens. Final components include the supervision of the jail and maintenance of the courthouse security.
Rader has a plan to restore public faith and integrity in the Sheriff's Department. "If elected, I will implement new policy goals for this office and feel that with my experience, they can be accomplished."
His goals include:
1. Proper training in both criminal and civil law for all deputies.
2. Better working relationships with the District Attorney's office and the County Attorney's office resulting in stronger cases for prosecution.
3. Training in case preparation that will also result in stronger prosecution and higher conviction rates.
4. Strong commitment to drug enforcement arrests resulting in convictions.
5. Emergency response training for all employees.
6. Faster response to community concerns and complaints. Rader believes these changes will have a positive result for citizens of Liberty County.
"If elected, I plan to develop a strong spirit of cooperation and teamwork with all the local law enforcement agencies in Liberty County. I will strive for increased utilization of the manpower and talents of Liberty County's volunteer fire personnel who can provide valuable support with crime and accident scenes. Finally, I think we will see the ability to investigate illegal activities that occur in the jail resulting in a more secure facility."
Rader brings the tools needed to deal with the total law enforcement package- experience, integrity and desire for change.
"It has to start somewhere. I ask it to start with your vote for me as the Republican candidate for the position of Liberty County Sheriff."

Thank you Bobby for running, now we can rid the county of Henry Goatman Patterson and his goat boys.
Bobby you have my family and my vote along with most everyone I know.
Heck yes I will vote for you!!! I'm positive you will do a much better job than the person currently holding this position. I can't wait until he is given the boot.
BOOT PATTERSON, BOOT PATTERSON, BOOT PATTERSON!!!!!!!!!!!
We are all proud of you Bobby, you will make a great Sheriff.
I have known Rader for many years as a man of great integrity and a great Republican. I know many other people who believe the same thing about Bobby.
Hey Bobby, my wife is making some of her great stew, Im going to call and invite you and your wife over again.
Five years ago Judge Rader saved my son's life by helping him get back on the right road, thank you Judge Rader...
I can not think of anyone in this county who has put out more sweat and elbow grease in working with the youth in this county. Many know Rader as judge, but generations know him as "coach". he is an extraordinary human being.
Watch the Outsider's mommies boy and Eddie Shauburglar hit Bobby Rader with their contrived bull$hit.
Shaubeggar, Fuddy and Valdez are writing the checks, Patterson will be making those checks good.
Bobby, you have our vote. I think you will make a great Sheriff for Liberty county.
FYI: both Melvin Hunt and Royce Wheeler were absent from work Monday morning. They were in Liberty filing for re-election.
Yes, the gun range slush funders are wanting more money.
C'mon, LD, where's their opposition???
It is strange that when a lot of Pattersons upper team found out that Bobby Rader was running for Sheriff they began calling Bobby and asking him if they would have a job if he becomes Sheriff. I hear that Captain Rex Evans calls him almost every day with some kind of question. Several of the other Sergeants have called Bobby and inquired about their job status.
Bobby Rader is a great man and has a lot of respect in the community. He will bring honesty and integrity back to the Liberty County Sheriff's department.
I think that it is time that Patterson is put out. All of the good men and women who work under him need a new start. The last couple of months have been very tough for the department, everytime they try to accomplish good deeds it is all over the news that it is just being done to get patterson re-elected !! These men and women are out there doing their jobs, which last time I looked that is what we pay them to do, they are not doing their jobs to get Patterson re-elected !! He is the only person on that staff that is elected, all of the other employees are hired and fired just as you and I are, lets let them do their jobs and we will take care of getting them a new Boss in there who will actually work with them !!
My dwi resulted in a felony conviction. Therefore, I am not allowed to vote. :( Nonetheless, I say GOD BLESS YOU and good-luck Mr. Bobby Rader. :) Prayers are more effective than "literal" votes anyway, right. Well, it makes me feel better, and I certainly do believe that. So I say, "Get em boy!"
We hope Arthur and Cox signs up to run. They better bring their lunches and raincoats.
I just want to comment on the statement someone posted earlier about officers calling radar with questions, he is a judge and who should know the law better then him, and with a crooked da's office I am glad to hear that these officers of the law are trying their best to make sure that they are doing everything by the book. This is a good thing, and with Patterson as their sheriff, who the hell else can they turn too. He sure as hell is not going to help them. The only two top guys that need to be out of there are green (who has not even spent a day on the road) and the chief who does nothing. Need to get some help in there for Evans who is out there day and night with no help from any other top ranked official !!
I lived in the same apartment complex when Bobby first came to Liberty with the highway patrol. I went squirrel hunting one morning and when I came back to clean them Bobby had several big bass he had caught that morning. We made a little trade and both were happy. I think he is a good, well educated, country fella that has done a lot of good in Liberty County and will continue to do so.
Yes Bobby is a good and honorable man - not sure right choice for sheriff. Might want to investigate into somethings a little more.
I can't wait to hear the debates between Rader and Patterson. Should be very interesting.
i hope rader goes out and gets the good deputys to come back to work. thats bunch over there now has run off those who truly care about the people of liberty county.
I just want to say that I am sure that Bobby will win this election. Myself, family and friends are all there for him. And as far as the deputies under the current sheriff, well hopefully when there's a new sheriff in town most of them will get kicked to the curb as well. Rex Evans being the number one on my list!!
I wholeheartedly agree! Rex Evans is a goofball who sure shows his intelligence when he is before the media. He sensationalizes everything! We need some intelligent team players in the sherriff's dept. and I am confident that Mr. Radar will be able to do a much better job than our current MIA sheriff.
