PRESS RELEASE: Karen McNair to run for Liberty County DA Position

Life long Liberty County resident and attorney, Karen McNair is pleased to announce her intention to seek her party’s nomination for the office of District Attorney in the March 6th, 2012 Republican primary.

“In serving the citizens of Liberty County as the lead prosecutor with the County Attorney’s Office, I am hitting a new stride, focus and fulfillment in my legal career.   It is exciting to work with the law enforcement officers serving the citizens of Liberty County to maintain and improve the quality of life for all of our cities, communities and neighborhoods.” – Karen McNair

As lead prosecutor in the Liberty County Attorney’s Office, Karen has worked diligently to implement a strict structure for enforcement of fines and probation terms to discourage further misdemeanor crime in Liberty County.  At the same time, she has worked to minimize “justice delayed” by reducing the number of days an inmate spends in jail between the offense and judgment.

Karen explained that those implemented reductions preserve the integrity of each citizen’s constitutional rights.  Justice must be fair, impartial, and swift.  Timely completion of prosecution is mandated by the right to a speedy trial.  Those mandates further benefit all the citizens of Liberty County by reducing the overall costs of prosecution to the tax payer while assuring the constitutionally protected rights of the accused.

“As Americans, our freedoms are ingrained in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  At all times and in every way, prosecution must respect those founding documents.  Justice must be impartial.  Justice must be swift.  Justice must be sure.  It is only then that we remain secure in our lives, our liberties and our pursuits of happiness.” – Karen McNair

Karen McNair is pleased to announce that she is seeking the nomination to the office of District Attorney in the March 6, 2012, Republican Primary Election.

Karen helped my family when we were at one of our lowest points. Karen has a heart and while the same time very judicious.

Vote 'em in for one term, then vote 'em out when they run for re-election. Term limit them all before they stay long enough to get a huge, and undeserved, pension.

Logan Picket lies! He hasnt been an attorney for five years prosecuting criminal cases. He also hasnt been an attorney for five years and he wants to be the County DA????????

I saw Logan handle his first felony case in which he was appointed as an attorney for a guy who'd been convicted of possession of a drug(forget what specific drug)...but, that case was in 2008. So, I wouldn't say he is a liar...because that's just mean and judgmental...but, 5 years as a prosecutor...nah,not quite :) Actually, he stated in the courtroom that day that he was only there to learn...and, then Chad gave him the drug guy so that he could get some experience. He handled it very well...he was very polite and he has great potential in my opinion. But, he definitely doesn't have the qualifications at this point in the game. I would like to see him work hard and not rely on the "Pickett" name for advancement. I am not saying that he is relying on his dad or that so called repected name..but, it would have to be tempting ya know...to use the connection, right. Let's all just play fair. How about it? Oh, by the way, I am just referring to the above post as I haven't read anything in regards to Mr. Pickett running for DA...so, that's just my take on the above post.

I like the information that I've read about Nancy. Fairness and protecting each person's rights is a BIG DEAL! I would like to see that as a priority in the DA's office. I would also like to see some of the old cases reviewed once the new DA is in office. I'd bet we would find some pretty interesting "scribble" on some pretty interesting "documents" or maybe we wouldn't find the " scribble" or the " document"...say what, " WHAT DOCUMENT?" DUH :(((( LOL

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL !

Karen McNair has tried less crimial cases than Logan Pickett. Why should she get our support?
Oh, its because Ray Akins has a personal vendetta against his dad. GO LOGAN!!! You have all our support!

Liberty County re-imposes burn ban, and the Federal Foerest Service Lifts it's burn ban in light of recent rainfall....and you want me to vote for who in liberty county politics????????

But as for Karen McNair as compared to Picket, there is no comparison. Picketpocket is barley out of law school and Karen has been practicing law for several decades. She has been handling hundreds of cases for Liberty County for the past three years. If you county handleing criminal cases the way Picketpocket if saying he has experience, then Karen has been prosecuting cases 2000% more than picketpocket's career. This guy just plain lied in all his press releases. I guess he thinks we are all to stupid to figure out his lies or that we are going to fall at his feet because he is a Picket, who cares?????

Just because Picket the mayor may be ok, dont mean his son is entitled to be DA. Picket should run for County Attorney and move up to DA in a couple of terms.

He could clean Wes Hinch's clock.

Nancy is a chain smoking witch.

I too think that if Logan ran for County Attorney it would be a hands down win. Running for DA after he has only been an ADA for 6 months is the height of arrogance and VERY suspicious.

So you dont vote for people because they decide to protect Liberty County and keep a burn ban in place. You are a moron!

FYI: I read Logan's interview in the Liberty Gazette...and he doesn't actually say that he has been prosecuting felony cases for 5 years. He only says that he has been practicing law for 5 years. From what I know about him, he is a good guy. I regret saying that Logan might use the "Pickett" name for advancement(if that's even possible). He very well may be a qualified attorney, and he could make a great DA...who knows...I certainly don't. My apologies!! Good luck to you Mr. Pickett!!

Logan Picket is a Liar. said...

The Cleveland Advocate Quote from Picket:

“I am a lifelong resident of Liberty County and have practiced law here for five years,” said Pickett, 30. “In private practice and my current capacity as assistant district attorney assigned to the 75th District Court, I have tried and closed hundreds of felony cases and am very familiar with the process of felony prosecution.”

Liar Liar pants on fire!

I had to ask who Logan Pickett's Dad was and what the significance of the "Pickett" name was. I have no knowledge about the "Picketts" or any prejudices. I'm from Dayton not Liberty.

After learning about Logan's proposed qualifications or lack there of, the decision of who would be the better candidate- is crystal clear.

Having said the former, I believe Karen McNair to be the best and most qualified candidate for the office of Liberty County DA.

Looks like Logan Pickett was back peddling and trying to recover from his "embellishing" his credentials in his interview with the Cleveland Advocate, by his new subsequent comments in his new Liberty Gazette interview. I'm afraid his previous comments about experience he didn't have will come back to haunt him. If he lacks truthfulness on his background, what else will he not be truthful about? A serious question as he comes from Mike Little's office. I agree, Karen McNair is the clear choice.

Ray, what do you think of Patterson?

Ray Akins said...

I think Patterson is a good guy and he started out wanting to do the right thing. The deal is, he is in over his head and has made some bad decisions and I'm sure he knows what I'm speaking of.

Newly elected I believe that he first sold out to some corrupt people just to get along but then later he realized what he had done and then tried to over compensate. As a result- next... in an act of desperation, he went to the outsiders for help- not good.

Add everything up and you have a good but troubled man who needs to go to the house.

Henry was a good stop gap until we could get a better candidate.

Liberty County is going through a historic transition, one long overdue. I personally have paid a heavy price for pushing that transition but its now inevitable. Unfortunately Henry Patterson will not be part of it.

The thing we all need to remember is that once we get things cleaned up... its going to be even harder to keep it that way. Outside sources will always be there to try to take apart our hard work for their selfish interest.

I agree, Rader and Karen will be part of that transition.

met her tonight (Dec 2) at Cleveland's senior center (dinner and fund raiser.) Nice lady, with a good head on her shoulders. Cares what a voter's concern is.... In favor of getting Little's, Hinch's, Hunt's/Wheeler's slush funds under full transparency and management (county treasurer, auditor, and commissioner's court.) Let's see anybody beat her, or win ANY LC office, on the opposite of THAT issue!!!

Nice pick, LD. Refreshing change, there. Two thumbs up. WAYYYYY UP!
