THE PIG WILL SQUEAL

Mike Little's Song- Courtesy Deliverance Movie, 1972
The cries for lowering the local county budget have become so common place we are starting to hear them from the most unlikely of places. Of course the local liberal-oriented gossip website has never been for lowering taxes or being conservative with taxpayer money, but the site is infamous for deception and Republican bashing. In honor of those who talk out of both sides of their mouth, let’s talk some details about what needs to be done and how any efforts to cut the biggest problem areas with the budget will be rebutted by arrogant out of control politicians.

First let’s look at where the budget has been doubled in the last four years. Let’s look at their slush fund money. Of course by law, the DA's office is only suppose to keep a portion of what is seized by law enforcement. The seizing agency keeps the rest.
Anyone who participates in Chapter 59 funds must file an accounting with the Attorney General annually. So the obvious next question is about the accuracy of District Attorney Mike Little’s “accounting”. Sources have indicated to Liberty Dispatch that an audit of this “accounting” might prove to be politically fatal for Little.

Just like any other cuts in the bloated government we see all around us, we can expect the pig to squeal when he is cut. The public can expect Mike Little to try and use his media buddies to head any questions about these funds off at the pass. He will correctly declare; “The State is the only one who can tell the District Attorney’s office how this money can be spent.” And Wes Hinch may try to indemnify himself and Little with a similar recital: “The State is the only one who can tell the County Attorney’s office how to spend the income from the "hot check fund".

Liberty Dispatch is used to the deflection method corrupt local officials use in Liberty County. The two politicians responsible for prosecuting some of the crime that has originated from our courthouse have saved their money for other things. Liberty Dispatch and anyone who keeps up with local politics knows they can hide their motivations and the county’s money behind an official statement: “the State and not the commissioner's court tells the prosecutor how that money can be spent.” They can say this and it will not only sound correct, it is correct. The only problem is it never addresses whether the cars, cash, crack, and other things are being used to do the business of WE THE PEOPLE. Deflecting the attention to the State when WE THE PEOPLE are the same people the State is responsible to is just useless rhetoric. Talk like this should drive us to demanding an audit.

To top it off, in their public defense and their efforts to stop any attention on their slush funds they will attempt to disconnect it from the taxpayer’s efforts to be fiscally responsible. They will undoubtedly point out that the Texas Constitution and the Texas Supreme Court mandates the commissioners’ court to provide “adequate funds” to the courts, the prosecutors, and law enforcement to be able to do their jobs. They will say in order for WE THE PEOPLE to cut their budget the commissioners, we would have to have a good reason. In fact these “public servants” are so much like crack-heads when it comes to the budgets they are in control of that if we don't watch out they will threaten to have the higher courts spank WE THE PEOPLE. If their budgets take into consideration their actual needs AFTER the income of their slush funds, they can cut their budgets more than just to the 2006 level.

ADULT ADVISORY- VIDEO

Some of the main questions left: "Will the new County Judge and the newly elected Republicans continue to be intimidated by these men?" "Will they continue to allow these men to deny them the ability to pay the workers in their office longevity pay while they dip into their slush funds and pay their help based on longevity?" "Will WE THE PEOPLE allow Mike Little and Wes Hinch to focus the time and the money that WE THE PEOPLE are responsible for to pursue income for their precious budgets or we require them to focus on the business the Constitution sets up these offices to focus?" We can only hope…

In the meantime, cut their budget back to the 2006 level and let them squeal to the State that it is unreasonable. If even the local liberal blogger wants to see budget cuts, may be that he will back this move. Not!

Oh my goodness..if you only knew how close you truly were when referencing certain public servants to " crack-heads." It just might blow the public's minds. I believe all are capable of change..so I'll let that dog
lie.

Wow, I saw that video, was that Mike Little and Wes Hinch?

Why are they so secretive about how much money the county takes in collecting hot checks and with drug seizures? It is not their money!

Anonymous said...

They do not want us to know because they want us to give them more tax money in their part of the budget. Our money.......

I have been dumbfounded in the way these two have worked hand in hand. I guess it is hero worship - but where is the hero?

Where is the respect for the taxpayers? Ultimately, are we not who they are working for?

What is sad these men proclaim to be christians. I wonder which church they attend?

They attend the First Baptist Church of Liberty.

Thank you Liberty Dispatch for this story. Seems like Old IODINE-OUT would now like the County to cut their budget. I wonder why he wasn't wanting to cut the budget before the Republicans moved in. Republicans have been in office 6 weeks and Allen is already thinking they should have done this and they should have done that. Man, he must think these new people we have elected, are going to turn around this mess caused by the last regime, the day they were put in office. Allen can we have a little more time to fix some of these things, before you start bashing us. Bash Obama,he has been in office going on three years, what has he fixed? I haven't heard you bash him yet.

First, I would like to say, that I voted for many of the County Officials, that were Democrats, simply because no one else was on the ballot or in a primary election, it was like the difference in night and day, between the candidates, in my humble opinion, since I do have one vote in this county. Last election was different in Liberty County to me and many people I talked to about the election, it was more about “House Cleaning”, than campaign promises. After, the previous County Judge told a reporter from Houston, “Boy, thangs are dun different, in the country than the city.” I told myself in 2010, an elected official in charge of the County, talks like “Foghorn Leghorn”, we have to become up to date. That County Judge is now indicted on 25 Federal Crimes, so, maybe we should do things like we are in 2011 and not 1911. He was a Democrat, but the new County Sheriff, brought in and put in charge of half of the county, a man, that was originally indicted on Federal Charges, that total 1000+ yrs. in the pen, but now has been found guilty of enough to put him in for 30 yrs. Now, that County Sheriff ran as a Republican and was elected only because of the Anti-Obama vote in this county. Now, we got a new County Court of Law Judge that is being accused of running up the tab on Taxpayers, like me, demanding this and that of the County Commissioners. Now, I am one of these here taxpayers, so I want to know why the two previous judges, did not need all of these amenities. So, why does this new Republican Judge want to spend all this extra money that everyone is hollering about, so started doing some research on the subject of personnel and a court reporter, for his court? So, looked into Texas Statues and under “Texas Government Code - Section 25”, all of this is covered and the lawmakers, even made Liberty County a law on this subject, in Section 25.1482, and in Section 25, even gives the county, a way to recoup some of this cost of the court reporter. I think this new judge is trying to take us into 2011, from 1911 standards and become more professional and be prepared for
Cases that his court rules on being appealed to the next level and there is a record.

I did not realize that Allen Youngblood could play the banjo.

I was having trouble figuring out who was a conservative and who was a rino.

Great job Allen! Keep up the good work!

To one of the commenters above, regarding them calling themselves christian and asking which church they attend:
Why should that matter? There is a counseling service on Main Street which calls themselves "Christian Family Services". Would you like me to go into detail about what this man does to his underage female clients while their care providers sit literally feet away, with an unlocked door between them? These care providers trust this man because he and his wife call thwmselves christian.

The simple fact is, if someone brings up religion or christianity within the first ten minutes of talking to them, I sit on guard. Just because you go to church does not mean that you are incapable of immorality. Just ask all the christian, republican politicians who keep getting caught with their pants down. Just look up prison statistics regarding religion, and while you are at it, do a little research regarding how many serial killers were avid churchgoers with just the seetest disposition. It peeves me when people imply that because you go to church, you must be a good person.

I love this site, and I also read I Dineout. I like to get a view on both sides of the coin, but lately, your site is the only source of information. The ignorance in some of the comments are astounding, and it makes me wish this town was better educated.... But then again, we would need a better education system around here...

Church folks, holy pretenders or authentic? I get two possibilities:

1.if they had an ounce of authority, those 'churchy' folks would empty all the hospitals. Then they would visit the morgues and funeral homes, and empty those. But, they don't, because they lack the authority, haven't a clue how, and can't.

or,
2. maybe the red letter versions really don't read: "greater things than these, shall you do."

Personally, my money is on the former.
