LIVING OUTSIDE THE FOXHOLE

After years of the good ole boy system in the courthouse we all must hope the recent election will create an entirely different atmosphere in our local government. The atmosphere at the courthouse has already changed as a new spirit of cooperation replaced the old one marked by competition, jealousy, and distrust.

We can be sure our elected officials got the message from voters. When the old guard was beaten so badly in the November election there was no doubt. Citizens of Liberty County have grown tired of the corruption and the favoritism and the selective prosecution by our public officials. The voters cleaned out the courthouse because they could tolerate it no longer. Our new leaders are well aware of the message that ushered them into office: “Public officials should not build their own kingdoms and profit by the power the voters give them”.

But did they get the other message? The message by voters that says, “Get out of the foxholes!” Voters removed officeholders from office that were involved in scandals and ones that weren’t. Voters will no longer tolerate the “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” attitude that some politicians have. Voters need elected officials to go beyond what their job description is and look out for the public interests wherever they see it being abused. The selfish politician that just keeps his filing cabinets straight and dusted, but refuses to go beyond the call of duty will not be a local favorite any longer. They must speak up. They must want to right wrongs. We voters are at our jobs trying to feed our family and we cannot be in two places at one time. Elected officials need to police themselves.

We already have heard some of the public officials complaining about the media and others criticizing public officials all of the time. Grow up! The lack of an active and critical press is how we got where we were. So do your job, and on top of that do the right thing!

Here are three quotes from the late Martin Luther King, Jr. that set a higher standard for public officials than just to “not do anything wrong”:

1) He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetuate it. He who accepts evil without protesting it is really cooperating with it.”
2) “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
3) “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.’

Public officials who fear the press and openness with the electorate are either guilty of something or they are in the wrong business. They need to abandon the foxhole where they are building a re-election campaign and look out for the people. If done well, a better community will be the by product and re-election will be your reward.

Youngblood attacking Donna Brown is chicken $hit.

Youngblood is not trying to clean up anything. He is a typical Democrat trying to suck some advantage out of government.Youngblood was never attacked by the old guard because of his spooning like relationship with the District Attorney's office. Readers of this site might remember he used the DA's office to investigate Ray Akins before Akins unloaded his u-haul when moving here.

A true public servant seldom, if ever, considers how a decision affects their re-election chances. A politician has re-election as a priority, a public servant makes decisions based off of the public good.

I can tell LD knows more than they are saying here. Republicans have not held power for decades, but I hope you guys will not be timid. Liberty County has suffered greatly because the media has been so complicit with politicians that just want to build the kingdoms you refer to in this piece. To keep the courthouse moving the right direction your perspective is needed. Don't worry, Democrats will not benefit if you point to bad Republican leadership. New Republicans and a stronger better party will be the result.

The "let's all get along" crowdneed to be aware that their mentality is how the courthouse got so corrupt. Be accountable.

We should ALL be watchdogs. I agree officials have a watchdog responsibility too.

You are right. Donna Brown's job performance and work etics has nothing to do with her personal life. Youngblood has nothing better to put on his sight than crap like this. This is what he lets his viewers post. Try to post something about a Democrat on IODINE and see how far you get. This story reminds me, that if our politicians would just do the right thing and not hide their heads in the sand and go along to get along, then Liberty County will do just fine. (HAWK)

Now we just have to get the crud out of this crooked CPS system that Liberty County has.

When will we get to know what our current commisioners court is up to? No matter how minute the details maybe we want to know how our money is spent. We dont care if its for paper clips we want to know. We shouldnt have to go to each one personally to find out. We had that situation with GROCE and FITZGERALD and you can see what the fed's thought of how they were behaving. I also have another comment I heard that there is only 4 sheriff's deputy's patroling at anytime in our county is this true?

Allen Youngblood crossed the line when he attacked Donna Brown through her children. This is a despicable act. The only good that will come out of what he has done is that he has exposed what the Democrats of Liberty County stand for, which is that they are self serving and have no boundaries when it comes to retaining power.

The really ugly thing about this story is that during the 2010 campaign it was rumored that someone tried to blackmail Donna Brown by threatening to disclose publicly negative information about her children.

It was allegedly an attempt to discourage her from running for public office.

It would be interesting to see this communication and compare it with the story that Allen Youngblood wrote. Could it be that Allen is implicit in this attempted blackmail scheme?

Donna Brown you need to make that document public and let the public judge Allen Youngblood for what he did.

Perhaps, even law enforcement needs to review this document.

Ah. Liberty County has corruption in our education systems, as well as in our law enforcement.
If we are going to clean house, let's get rid of vice principles who protect child molester's *ahem Whittaker and Welps ahem*

Sentinel thats how Allen Youngblood does his business. The democrats leave no holds barred when it comes to attacking people. Hes one for Allen. Your a weirdo who plays an organ. That is just creepy. I bet you have someone in a whole in your back room. "It puts the lotion on then rubs it in"

Good post, Mr. Pegues. I like it and believe you are right on target with your message.

Let us all move forward with honesty, fairness and integrity.

IN GOD WE TRUST...FOREVER!

A few words to Mrs. Donna Brown. Let it roll off your back. I believe you have what it takes to be a very successful leader. Keep it simple and ignore the insignificant gossips and trouble makers. Really, they mean nothing and are only important in their own petty little minds.

No foxholes necessary. Public officials should be open books. As for Mrs. Brown and Mr. Youngblood, Mrs. Brown has cast her bread on the waters and eventually it will return to her with God's help be good - Mr. Youngblood will get returned to him something much different.

You can bet your sweet a$$ that Melody Gilmore was behind this attack. She is in Youngbloods back pocket.

Allen Youngblood is a real sucker!

Mike Little and Huff both in the same office and both worked out details on how to get Ray Akins and his side kick. Now Little is acting like Bob Barker on Let’s Make a Deal! With Akins and his side kick. We are now entering Liberty County, or is that the twilight-Zone…We need a lot of Sun shine on these people. Inside word is Don’t take the deal…it’s a set-up from the word Go! Little said he needs this conviction because he believes without it his days in office are numbered.

Keep your spirits up Donna. Allen Youngblood has nothing else to put on his news, other than something he has dug up from two years ago. There are more Republicans in office now, so he will have more trash to try and sway the public to vote Democrat next election. Most of his news is taken off the National news, that I have already seen on TV. So don't let this sort of garbage get to you or dicourage you in any way.

I can assure you that Melody Gilmore doesnt care about anything that has to do with Mrs Brown. She has closed that chapter in her life and moved on. I do infact deserve to know the TRUTH about ALL elected officals public or private, democrat or republican. ALL elected officals need to be held accountable for what they do and their lifestyles!!! It is a direct reflection of our county!!

When there were no republicans in office it was easy to dig up crap on those in office or that were in the public spotlilght. Now the tables have turned and all the dirt on the new elected officials are about to come out. You can try and defend them all you want ray but it wont work. It just shows how biased and hypocritical you are. It is already making you look real bad and all the other idiots that post on this site.

it is true that elected officials should be held accountable for what they do.

the allen youngblood issue does not address a public official criminality issue. allen is attacking donna on a family issue that has nothing to do with her office.

all of us love our children but when they become of age it is up to them to fly right. you cannot hold a parent of a grown child responible for adult actions.

the really repulsive thing that younblood did was to insinuate that the young man sold his friends down the river to get out of his own predicament.

is allen trying to cause retaliation against donnas children.

the attempted comparison to harrelsons situation is an inept attempt by a very non smart man to help his people win in the next election.

allen has been playing these games for years. his schemes are coming to an end because he has pissed off people who normally read his happy get lucky democrat page.

i have heard the anger. you really screwed up allen.

And we deserve the truth instead of the Liberty Toilet Paper bragging how good the long time Democrats are while they are stealing this county blind.I don't care what Donna Browns' sons did it's what she does that counts.
Baybe we need the FBI to check on the Liberty County Apraisil District and the Tax Collecter. Why so many of their buddies with big bank accounts get so many big exementions.

Donna, you need to sue Youngblood's @ss off.

A similar thing happen where I grew up. The local paper made a big deal out of a twenty year old getting arrested because he was the mayor's son. The report made the son feel like everyone hated him including his father. He hung himself.

Anonymous said...

Allen may have just hung himself with this crappy type of story about something that happened two years ago. Allen,I think you have reached a new low in your news career. Were you trying to connect Donna Brown into a drug deal or make it look like she was somehow involved in this, other than trying to help her Kids? If you were, you didn't convince me of anything she has done wrong. If you had kids, you would know this.

Anonymous said...

yea. there was another story of someone around the kountze area that allegdely abuzed his children. the young man supposedly shot himself. it is crazy how the abuse of power can get people off scott free. maybe it is something about the necessity of becoming a narcicist if you enter politics. the real problem is that da's, county attorneys, other elected officials all seem to worry bout builidng coalitions like ground water districts instead of doing teh right thing.

what hypocrites they are when they say they pursue righteousness and then cut deals behind closed doors for money, power, and position.

to hell with democrats and rinos.
