Dear Liberty Dispatch:
All who have visited Liberty Dispatch have had an opportunity to read firsthand, or to see reference our warning to Liberty County voters four years ago about a young attorney who had repeatedly proven he lacked the self discipline to quell is urge to hit women. Whether it is his momentary thoughts of superiority or a more serious philosophy about women, we expressed the idea that it would not be good for his wife, or Liberty County. or ultimately for him. to hold a highly visible public office. We said back then, and we say it again now, Mr. Pickett's best chance to learn to control his temper and his best chance to learn that women deserve to be treated like human beings and not like some animal in training, is to retreat to public life and to work hard on his marriage. And that taking a job that makes decisions about people who have committed domestic abuse and violence is the worst position someone with Mr. Pickett's problems should endeavor to hold.
Mr. Pickett has ignored our advise. And the advise many would give him. He has not only decided to run for a second term, his public behavior would tell most of us that he does not consider his problem any big deal. Surprisingly, he has publicly admitted he believes Liberty County voters will go the polls and vote for him and disregard then fact he stood before a Harris County Judge for beating his wife. He also has expressed the brazen idea that the public knowing his sexual relationship and affair with a subordinate.employee that is not his wife was only a factor to people running for office in places like Harris County, not Liberty County. We are unsure if he is saying people in Liberty County could care less about their public officials committing sexual crimes with at least two different women or if he is saying that the public spectacle of his behavior making the Houston news for days did not affect his voters or if Liberty County voters were either uninformed or not very bright. But whatever he meant, it was not a compliment to those of us who live here.
Though we have never met his opponent, our inquiries have indicated she is a good attorney and that she has a stable family life and a good reputation. Therefore, as odd as it may sound to some, we are in hopes that Republicans are supportive of Logan Pickett join those who support his opponent and do what is best for Liberty County. Vote for Jennifer Bergman.

Liberty Dispatch or whomever it may concern, talk to his wife's friends and you will discover this has gone on a long time.
Logan Pickett acting like he is better than everyone else is not news.
Unfortunately, few voters in this area are going to look for anything other than that designation "Republican" in making their voting decision.
This was all reported recently by the Houston media except for the adultry and that this was not the first time. What I do not understand is Pickett's appeal to voters. He has no legal experience. Joe Warren ran Pickett's office until he became persona non gratis (that is a whole story in itself). So wit no experience, we now have revelations of spousal abuse. What is the attraction for voters?
The experience DA Pickett has is all in the courtroom while his handlers have tried to teach him what he should do. This is the second term Liberty County has has the top prosecutor be a titular head without any legal experience before he was elected. There is no telling what problems that has created. Some people have walked that were guilty and some have been persecuted that were not. Jennifer Bergman was asked to run. She did not plan it. Her five years as a prosecutor and her law practice made her one of three people friends of mine said they would approach if there was no opposition. Jennifer won out because she has been a conservative Republican for quite some time and the other two it was more difficult to decipher their past.
I hate these lawyers we have living here. But I would rather have a man lawyer tan a woman cause they can at least be reasoned with. Have this young man promise he want do it any more and let's put this to bed.
Is this the son or the grandson of the Liberty Mayor? Hell he looks young enough to be in high school. Nothing will happen to him. Old man Pickett smoothed all the edges out for his kids and his grand kids before he entered the pearly gates. He ran this town before the current Mayor Pickett did. And his daddy ran it before him. I don't care how Republican or how good a attorney Mrs. Bergman is, these people can make one phone call and rain down votes from old family friends and business associates.

I’m a Democrat and have followed liberty dispatch for years outing the corruption in Liberty County, thank you, I’m sure it has come at a great cost. I would never vote for a Republican but, I would never vote for Pickett even if he was running democrat. I’m a woman and it angers me people like him don’t leave office in shame, they get more brazen. I’m sure his wife will suffer at the end of Pickett’s fist. I pray she leaves that man and God blesses her with peace before that man kills her. How will everyone who votes for him feel when he beats her to death? Voting for that man is voting for the future beatings she will have to endure. We love you baby girl...
Is it true this horrible District Attorney, Logan Pickett, tried to get his mistress fired?
The only reason he was elected the first time was because of his last name. I can't stand that fool and will not be voting for him. Whatever it take to get his butt out of office.
So can just anyone have sex in the County Courthouse? Curious as to how that would turn out for any of the citizens. I'll bet there would be some charges filed!
You must pass through the metal detector and the TWO guards before you are allowed to enter the Courthouse for sex.
