HOBBIES OF THE TWO ANNOUNCED CANDIDATES FOR COUNTY JUDGE

Despite the fact that County Judge Craig McNair has run a tight ship and used conservative principles to successfully guide Liberty County through perilous economic times that have caused other county and city governments to go bankrupt, Liberty Dispatch expects Judge McNair to have an opponent or opponents in the 2014 election. Candidates choosing to challenge the first Republican County Judge in Liberty County in over 100 years will either have to espouse a more liberal approach to government spending or have try to sell themselves to the voters as someone who can better apply conservative management skills to the job than Judge McNair. Thus far, only two candidates have announced their intention to run for county judge in 2014.

The incumbent, Craig McNair of Dayton has said he would like to serve for four more years. A challenger and fellow Dayton resident, Jay Knight has also announced his intentions to run also. Jay Knight has not been publicly critical of Judge McNair in the last three years, and has indicated he is running because he believes can do a better job. Both men claim teamwork and conservative values are the only path Liberty County can follow and grow with in the current economic environment. Both men are excited about economic development potential and the opportunities afforded by our proximity to Harris County.

Periodically Liberty Dispatch will choose a topic of interest about the candidates for county judge and try to help voters get to know the candidates better. Today’s topic concerns the way the two candidates spend their spare time.

Just like Jay Knight’s announcement that he intends to run for office, Liberty Dispatch’s information about Jay’s favorite hobby was found headlined at the local left-wing liberal blog. According to his facebook page, Jay spends a great deal of time at places like the Elks Lodge playing country western music.

Saturday night August 17th from 9pm till 1am Jay Knight, the newly announced candidate for Liberty County Judge will be at the Liberty Elks Lodge with his band Southern Breeze. Just like so many times when Jay Knight has been at the Elks Lodge over the years, he wants those who like this kind of event to “bring your dance'n shoes $15 per couple or $10 per single and BYOB. Beer, wine coolers, set ups etc. will be sold by the lodge.”

Judge Craig McNair’s spends some of his spare time flying his airplane. A hobby he has participated in for years. A hobby that has come in handy since his daughter moved to Tennessee to work toward her music career. Instead of all of the hassle and scheduling involved in flying commercially, Craig and his wife, Lisa have hopped aboard their little plane usually two or three times a year to check in on family.

Stay tuned for information on anyone else who announces for county judge’s hobbies and other related topics.

I know Jay and I can tell you he must have had a ghost writer type answers to some kind of computer interview because that is not Jay's writing. Or may be the man who runs the liberal site paraphrased or re-worded some answers. Strange either way.

Both fiddle playing and flying airplanes are un usual talents. Better than Phil's"FEMA hobby" and Tookie's hobby of looking at the pictures in old comic books.

With less money coming in on reduced tax evaluations and financial responsibilities that have already been set by past Democrat officeholders, Mr. Knight may not blame the years of taxing and spending that went on before, but I do not blame all four commissioners for explaining why the budget is so out of whack.

I agree someone must have helped write Knight's interview answers. I appreciate they did not drop F-bombs ever so often like Knight did in the presence of my wife and her two friends. He will need to clean up his foul mouth if he campaigns anywhere other than places his band plays.

I like both Craig and Jay. They are both improvements over past county judges. Good luck to both men.

Mr. Knight and Mr. McNair must think the men who work for the county are stupid if they really believe better communication and teamwork will replace being underpaid. It was bad enough when the judge thought telling us there was no money for a pay raise, but now Mr. Knight thinks he can tell us he will say the same thing but in a way that will make us vote for him. If you want our vote and the votes of our family and friends use some of the fund balance and give us a raise the first day you are in office. That is why there is a fund balance dumbshit!

Democrats will love these two if they will rip each other apart enough so they can win and be back in the saddle again.

What Democrat will sign up to run? "Fema Phil" Fitzgerald? Tookie Kirkham? Carl Pickett? John Archer? Nancy Archer? Todd Fontenot? Please tell me. What Democrat would possibly have a chance? Or would one of these people run in a Republican party where all of the workers know they are donkies in disguise?

Why would a Republican use that goofy, Obama-loving,gun control promoting, pro abortion website as their vehicle to announce their candidacy for a countywide office. I do not know Jay Knight but he must not know who he has climbed into bed with when he joins himself with Allen Youngblood to launch a campaign. I have not read the interview but someone may want to double check with the hew candidate to make sure he was really interviewed by Youngblood. It just does not make much sense for him to do that.

These people are acting like Jay is not smart enough to give the great answers he did in his interviewing with one of the local website journalist do not know Jay Knight. Jay's Dad went to Harvard University. He comes from good stock. These may be the same people who keep trying to convince people jay mows lawns for a living. Jay is a landscape architect that is plenty smart enough to answer any question Alan Youngblood could blurt out. Greg McNair needs to load you people up and move to Tennessee. I am voting for Jay.

Ha ha ha! Wasn't it Jay Knight after ha placed THIRD in a three way race that endorsed CRAIG (not Greg) McNair and then said he was moving out of Liberty County? This is a plan by Lester Ray Wisegerber/Barry Graves and others to put their buddies in offices they could not win themselves. Republicans need to stick with people who are doing what we elected them to do and not get caught up in these personal power quest.

I saw Knight with one of the lawyers from Liberty eating together. I would bet money that lawyer wrote the answers for Knight. I am not going to name the Liberty lawyer Knight was with on my comment because people would not believe me. But if I see them together again I will snap a picture with my phone.

We are very fortunate to have someone as accomplished as Jay Knight running for Liberty County Judge. Go Jay go!!!

I like Jay but Craig deserves four more years. I would like to compliment County Judge McNair on being the first county judge since I moved to this county in 1979 that has not spent all of his time getting in the newspaper and running for re-election.

Let it go Jay. you were not even the voters choice after the mayor of Dayton you hated so much.
