The election of 2010 is over and some are convinced that the historical change in Liberty County will make no difference. Some have ignored the corruption that has gone on around here our entire lives. They may have even voted to rid the county of Democratic leadership, but their hopes of anything much better are small. Some know of the corruption, but say it will only be a matter of time until the Republicans become as corrupt. They say it really makes no difference about political parties.
No one can successfully argue that being a member of one political party over another helps to ensure that an elected official will conduct all of their business in the best interest of the public. But the dramatic difference in the view of spending and the size and scope of what government SHOULD make a difference in electing someone from one party over another. Though Republicans have not always been faithful to their stated beliefs – they have written in their platform that they want a smaller, more efficient government that is less intrusive in our lives. Under the leadership of Barack Obama, Democrats are more candid as they unabashedly lay out their goals of a government that is more involved and more costly in our society.
So will there be a difference now that Liberty County has elected the more “conservative” candidates? The Liberty County budget has more than doubled in the last four years. Will these Republicans find places to cut in these massive increases? We are not wondering whether or not each officeholder will buy fewer paper clips or whether they will promise to make fewer long distance phone calls. On one hand, voters are going to work every day and raising families and have no desire to micro-manage the way their tax dollars are spent. On the other hand, they want their hard earned money to be in the best interest of the community and not wasted.
Will Republicans lead the way their platform indicates? Will they be efficient and wise with our money? In the coming weeks Liberty Dispatch will analyze some of the frivolous spending that has gone on and the lack of accountability by some in our local government will be questioned. Politicians can say Liberty Dispatch is picking on certain individuals or that Liberty Dispatch is bias, but the numbers and the facts will speak louder than any words about this subject.

Oh I hear it all the time.Ray Akins this Liberty Dispatch that. You established your motivations then they attacked you. They can try and rewrite history, but it is clear you were investigating Democrats long before you met Liberty County's crooked crew. Keep up the good work Ray. We know this is about their crime,not the made up bull they try and stick on you.
Well I voted for a change. I now have a wait and see attitude. I don't think they can do any worse than what we have had running the County. I do think they know they can be replace just like this bunch of no account, thieving,liying,scamming crooks we have had.
Hey LD if you want to catch some of these bad boys you need to follow the "golf/country club" $$$$$. What a great to launder prize money under the guise of a fundraiser/benefit and to expense your own leisure out to the taxpayers!
Mike Little ios as good of a golfer as he is a District Attorney, but it is not for a lack of nice little expense paid, golf cart driven,free lunch golf tourneys. Or is it?

You ever thought Little'sname may be brought up by one of the newly elected Republicans in order to divert all of the "cut the budget" talk. These new people will be as sorry as the good ole boys that are leaving.
I know you probably are glad to drop Rusty Hight out of the political discussions after spending so much time warning the public about him. But I have heard he has stopped working almost completely since he lost the elkection. I heard December 14th will be his only court date in December. Is that true? Is that legal?

Rusty Hight is a moron and he got beat, get over it. He made his bed with other corrupt people in the courthouse. I understand there are several judicial complaints out there against him. The problems he created and his corruption will follow him from the courthouse when he leaves.
I wonder if Rusty will go back to practicing law in Liberty County. He may not be as welcomed at the Courthouse as he once was. Go ahead and retire Rusty, you now have the retirement check plus whatever you have scammed through the years.
