Republican meeting highlights including recognition of Marine, Gunny Jorgensen

The Liberty County Republicans held a general meeting on 07/06/2010. In attendance were Party Chairman, Andy McCreight, and candidates Craig McNair, Tommy Chambers, Monty Odum, Donna Brown and Paulette Williams.

General party business and finances were discussed. Since Andy McCreight's victory over Lester Ray Wisegerber in the County Chairman's race, Republicans are slowly reviewing the past financial statements and future goals as they begin to prioritize their goals. During the last meeting, the Executive Committee voted to continue paying for the headquarters through the November election. Nothing further was said about the leasing and sub-leasing of the party headquarters building or the initial fees involved in the process.

A motion brought by Ray Akins to acknowledge the hard work for the party by “Gunny” Jorgensen was passed with Dennis Odell seconding the motion. Gunny will be given a plaque that commemorates his years of service.

The Liberty County Republican Party voted unanimously to recognize and honor this longtime and hard working member. Gunny Jorgenson's fellow marine, T.B. Boyd, spoke eloquently about his patriotic and distinguished friend and the contributions Gunny has made to the country and to the Republican party. As an example of Gunny's dedication to the community, T.B. pointed out that "even while running for office, Gunny put everything on hold while he and Ray Akins spent months informing the county and campaigning against the proposed water district. Gunny believed that his first duty was to help stop the higher taxes and the loss of control of our water that the new district would cause - so he put his own ambitions off until he and Ray had mounted a sufficient campaign."

After T.B. Boyd, a former county chairman talked about Gunny's sense of duty and his thoroughness in the way he approached his duties as a precinct chairman. "Some of the volunteers who have just started to help in the last five or six years may not know much about our history, but it is people like Gunny and T. B. that ultimately built the base of this party and they will always be a big part in any success that it has. It is people like these men who have made this country great. It has been an honor to work with them."

The rest of the Republican meeting was dedicated to precinct chairman training.

Gunny has been a great representative for Republicans on the north end of the county. Everyone up here knows T.B. and Gunny.

Why didn't you add to the agenda pursuing criminal charges against Paulette Williams and Lester Wisegerber for misappropriation of (party) funds?

Who the hell cares about local Republicans and their stinking meetings? Bill White is going to clean your clocks. Then Obama will be re-elected. Then the Democrats will retake Texas.

If someone has an accusation to make. Make it! This drive by stuff gets old. Either post some details or call Andy McCreight, but cut the anonymous slander.

Congratulations Gunny! You are one of the most honorable men I have ever known. We are praying for your health to return quickly and hope to see you at the next meeting.

Our new County Attorney was very active in pushing that same bill. WE DON'T WANT ANY MORE GOVERNMENT CONTROL. If Mr. Hinch wants to continue in his job he better learn what the previous commentator poointed out to Representative Otto.

So Republicans enjoyed all of the headlines about County Clerk Delia Sellers office missing money, but all Liberty Dispatch can do is let one of their readers refer us to the Chairman when they should audit their former Chairman? What is the matter Ray afraid the money will not be accounted for like it was in Delia's case?

Thanks again to Gunny and Ray for the signs and all of the hard work defeating that intrusive and expensive water district scheme. Otto better quit trying to sell us on stuff and start listening. More than one incumbent has gotten beaten when they seem to be riding high. He can't be a very good statewide candidate if he is beat locally because he pushes crap like that water district bill.

If I missed the training can I get a handout or will their be another training session for precinct chairs?

I am inquirying about the status of one Phillip "Chip" Fairchild. Is it true he is missing in action?

What are you referring to when you say "initial fees" in this article? Please explain.

I think next election in Liberty Texas, we should vote out all the city council and mayor. If they are going to hire people like &hit Fairchild, an alleged murderer, they should all be voted out. Vote out the DA too for not pursuing charges, protecting a murderer.

This article was mainly dedicated to honor the hard work Gunny did for the Republican Party. Some of you hate mongers are dirtying up the article with other stuff. If you want to make an accusation write the Liberty Dispatch an article put your name on it. I am sure the website admin's will post it. Are you scared?

Gunny if you are reading this, I am giving you a standing ovation. Some of us know alot of what you ahve done for the party and think you are deserving of the first appreciation plaque we have ever given.

Hey Ray you hadn't got any stories so we have to read this sh+t. And then you can't even respond to a simple question??Somebody told me they were keeping up with your court cases and that you actually were winning. They askd me what I thought you would do after you were vindicated. I told thm there is no doubt what you will do. You will go running and screaming like a little girl and never come back to Liberty County. Thtat will happen and you know it, becuase that is who you are. A rich chickensh*t Republican with no b*lls that started something he couldn't finish. A spoiled little girl trying to play ball with the men in the courthouse.

The headquarters is really nice. Republicans have had many headquarters through the years thanks to a handful of people like Gunny Jorgenson and Bob Ford. The fact we have finally broken through and won some races and have had enough people to join us that we can afford a great location and a more permanent headquarters has got to be encouraging to Gunny as he struggles wih his health.

Hey Marcus-You sounded like a demo-fobo with that statement.I'm sure whoever posted that is anti-present city gov. with a severe dislike of low caliber people being hired by them.Something like the US Gov. right now. While "freedom of speech" remains in the constitution even you can dirty up an article.By the way &hit Fairchild does seem to be missing in action. Guess he's not gonna run for sheriff as he couldn't even get elected dog catcher. AND FOR YOU GUNNY JORGENSEN--OOHRAH!!!!
