I’ve closely followed the Liberty County Judge Race for some time now. As readers know, I have tried to be fair and balanced in my approach- in order to support the best candidate for Liberty County Judge.
As readers of Liberty Dispatch also know, I personally reached out to Steve Stephens in an attempt to help him clarify some problematic issues and allegations. With all due respect to Stephens, when I talked to him, he seemed disconnected and in denial regarding the allegations surrounding his actions with Dayton money and FEMA. This disconnect is greatly troubling and somewhat suspect...
Public servants have a responsibility to be open and forthcoming about the way they take care of our business, it would be difficult to understand why anyone would vote for Stephens under these circumstances except maybe his closest friends and those Democrats who want the Republican Party to be vulnerable in the general election.
In summary, no matter what Stephens thinks, he owes the public answers in regard to the way he has handled The City of Dayton’s business and the ensuing FEMA debacle. Because of the lack of answers surrounding Stephens’ activities and his cavalier attitude to his accountability, in good conscience, I cannot endorse Stephens’ campaign.
It is my hope that Craig McNair is elected as our new Republican candidate and ultimately, Liberty County Judge.
Liberty County Judge Candidate, Craig McNair has my personal endorsement and the endorsement of Liberty Dispatch.

It is truly a rare thing when I agree with that opportunist wannabe radio star Bill Buchanan, but when I overheard him say whenever Steve Stephens opens his mouth he loses votes, I thought to myself how true that is.
I am not so sure our Mayor did anything illegal, but there is no doubt he used poor judgement. Emergencies have protocol and Stephens did not follow the protocol. I can understand why he does not want to talk about it, but the Democrats would be fools not to talk about this all the way until November if Stephens were to win.
Local Republicans have two big advatages in this year's elections. Number One: The ethically challenged Democrats they are running against that have created an environemnt of corruption and back room deals. Number Two: Liberty County, just like the country, has awakened to the connections parties have from small towns to Austin to Washington..... and voters here know they can vote against what Barack Obama is doing by voting against the grass roots members of his party.
Thanks for weighing in Ray! One of my best friends is running for clerk and I am concerned that if voters elect someone with a potential scandal pending, she will lose some votes because of it.
Who cares who you people endorse. You are a bunch of right wingers and everyone knows you were attacked when you came in town because you want to replace all of the Democrats with Republicans. Have you ever heard of vote for the man? Why don't you people crawl back in your hole and leave the politics to politicians. And while I am at it, you are not the media or the news. KSHN and I-dineout and The Dayton News are the media. They report the news. You people are full of sh*t!
Mr. Akins. Thank you for finally taking a stand on the County Judge race. I was afraid you were about to be taken in by the "pied piper" of Dayton. Now, if only it is not too late and the rest of the public can see how Mr. Stephens really is, they can get to the polls tomorrow and elect Mr. McNair as our Republican Party Candidate for Liberty County Judge.
I had hoped you would stay out of this race because I anm a Stephens supporter. but I can tell you many of us are frustrated thta Stevehas not responded to many requests for some kind of explanation. he really is a good man. He did not pocket one penny of FEMA money for himself.
We will find out who is really a Republican when we see if the loser can endorse the winner like Jay Knight did.
Libert County back on Channel 13 10 pm news, this time was on the second appeal to FEMA from Dayton for 1.6 million dollars. If Stephens is elected today, he will derail our party in November, when the Democrats start showing the public the evil side of Steve Stephens. Please vote for Craig McNair.
My family and I live in Dayton, we have been encouraging all our friends and neighbors to vote for Craig McNair.
no KSHN, i-dineout, and dayton news are NOT "the media." Rather, they are wholly owned puppets of the county democratic chairman, Nancy Archer. We haven't had a "free press" in this country for several decades now. Conglomerates are buying up entire regions, of both newspapers and radio stations, for wholly vested interests- controlling what's heard and read (as 'news') in major city markets. At last report dayton news' owner, actually, sub owner- ASP Westward, (is owned by AS of New York City,) and is the former Sears Robuck family investment arm!)
It's funny how the democrats cry "vote for the man" here, but on their ballot they cry: "vote the Palanca, vote the straight ticket"!
No matter, dayton news' cub reporter, Melecio Franco (career politician, formerly of another congressman's staff,) garnered only TWO PERCENT of the vote.
Truth is: all the hcnonline venues combines, have a circulation of some 1/3 of a million, of the 5 million Houston-Galveston residents.
Translation: less than 13% of the residents take, or even READ, their controlled, democratic mantra, nonsense! Subtract the thousands of copies, dumped at schools, that nobody actually even READS, (but counted as 'circulation') and you get a much truer picture of how miniscule their circulation and impact truly is.
THAT's how (ir)-relevant KSHN, i-dineout, dayton news (and its communist/socialist/dem puppet editor, duh-Nesa) actually ARE!
Liberty Dispatch IS the Republican and Conservative news source in Liberty County and surrounding area. Mr. Akins, keep those who would hurt us ramped up, its what you do best.
What? Would I document that ownership lineage of dayton news/cleveland advocate/eastex advocate... to hcnonline... thence to asp westward lp... thence to as of new york city... thence to ....
Certainly...

Yes, you are all being victimized by
a controlled media conglomerate, out
of NYC, NY! You'll notice that they also
own a broadcasting conglomerate...
KSHN??

I rest my case!
These pieces of propaganda may not affect many, but their effect is way too much. they mix things we need to know with entertainment, so they can put their slant in on things they want to influence. KSHN does it on our airwaves!
no brainer. boycott their advertisers.
That cuts off their cash flow stream!
I see DS found this message board. He was kicked off HCN's and now he has come here to vent and complain because his bullying came to an end over there.
Keep on keeping quiet steve and see where it gets you now.
For the record there are only a handful of candidates who I have personally endorsed this political season:
As of this date...
Andy McCreight
Chap Cain
Mark Morefield
Tommy Chambers
Craig McNair
Liberty Dispatch has supported others and the ones named.
