Liberty County Texas, a lesson in corruption and injustice.
KSHN churns out stories about justice when it has to do with dogs, but people don’t always get the same consideration. Read this KSHN squib:
“In September Liberty County man, Shane Rushing, was accused of throwing a dog off the U.S. 90, Trinity River Bridge in Liberty. On Monday, a jury in the Liberty County Court at Law found him guilty and sentenced him to 180 days in jail and the maximum fine of $4,000. City of Liberty Animal Control Officer Tammy Bishop testified in the case, with the rescued dog by her side. The dog remains at the Liberty Animal Shelter awaiting adoption.”
I have no problem with this Rushing character getting punished for mistreating a dog, but I do have a problem with Rusty Hight and Mike Little giving a lighter sentence to convicted child molesters than someone who mistreats an animal.
Where has KSHN been when injustice occurs in these courtrooms? Little spends all kinds of money and time pursuing his own agenda and WE THE PEOPLE not only pay for it, we PAY FOR IT. Criminals are returned to the streets while fights with political enemies or what I call “make an example” cases go on to make Mike Little look bigger than life.
That office, the District Attorney’s office needs to be returned to the people. Liberty County has some very capable people that would act like a public servant as the head of that office. We need to elect one.
As for the man who threw the dog off the bridge, his sentence was handled by a lynch mob mentality. Who is to know, anyone is the community could become a victim of this same lynch mob mentality which Bill Buchanan over at KSHN has so vehemently and disingenuously wrapped around himself like a flag on Veterans Day.
Do Buchanan and the lynch mob he promotes make Liberty County stronger, more fair, more judicial, more civilized, more respected or more Christian? I think not…
Liberty County needs fair and open justice. Judge Don Taylor should be ashamed for his excessive, knee jerk and lynch mob justice.
I believe Liberty County is soon to rid itself of the judicial corruption it has been plagued with for so many generations and come of age.

6 months in jail and a fine? And the dog appears healthy? I love animals but unlike the parade this band got caught up in , man is my favorite.
A sad legacy for Judge Don Taylor. Im sure Janet Harrelson and her civil attorneys will agree.
I guess this bunch got so shamed down at the November elections that they have decided to start throwing the old proverbial book at people in hopes of being elected again at the next election in 2012. Sorry, this is too little, too late. You are finished up in Liberty County,so get your things together and get out.
From what i have heard from many, the Police Officers of Liberty County are all too happy to see Judge Taylor retire. As well, they are concerned that Tommy Chambers isnt the right man for the job either.
Judge Taylor and his "I'm God" attitude is finally coming to an end. His legacy--not a good one.
our schools are the same way. Serial child abusers get promoted!
Well, who is old Judge Taylor going to send for lottery tickets and to take care of his other personal buisness now that he won't have a Bailiff?
" Hearsay," being treated as fact. That has been known to happen up there as well, or so I hear. That's kinda funny. I guess I should say, "or so I KNOW." It's a very frightening predicament to find yourself in. ( I promise you that.) Friends of friends of friends; friends of family; your so called friends, your own family. They just start a good ole rumor, embellish it just a tad in front of the "right" folks, and before you know it, it's like this, " Hey, sounds good to me. Let's put em away for a while. Good deal, now where we going to eat." It's tough to swallow sometimes, but we do it. Maybe we even learn something from it. The goal is to have leaders in the judicial system that are honest and fair. I believe that is happening as we speak, with the leaders that we ( well you ) elected this time around.
Oh yea, and it might help if we obey the law and then most likely we won't find ourselves in that unfortunate predicament in the first place. That one always helps.
I got caught up in the corruption part of the article. I am very glad the dog is healthy and safe. That was a horrible act by that guy. In my opinion it does deserve punishment. To what level. I have no idea. Anyway, I hope the dog finds a good home.
I was told Taylor has been letting the County Thieves off with probation again and again. So do you think the Deputys want to waste time catching crooks just to have them let go again and again. Our fine upstanding Constable and his Deputy Barny F.spend all their tome around Moss Hill catching speeders.Driveing that High Dollar car real fast. The one we payed for.
Re: Judge Taylor retiring and police officers concerned about Tommy Chambers as judge...I know he's a decent man - fair and honest. He's had more than his share of humiliation and judge "attitudes" in the court room. Maybe he will remember this and show the officers the mutual respect they show him. Give him a chance...he will prove to be one of the best judges in Liberty County!
Well, if any of you listened to FOX 26 news last night @ 9:00 P.M. you would have seen a story about a man and his wife that had murdered their child right here in Liberty, about three years ago. They have not been to trial yet. When the reporter ask Mike Little about the 160 other cases on the court docket that has been pending,(some from the 1990's) He told them that he didn't keep a record of how many cases were pending for this long of a period. What a Joke for our Liberty County Justice system, being aired on a news station for evryone in Souteast Texas to See what is happening here. No wonder all the thieves, crooks, murders and RIF RAF want to come to Liberty County. Free Food, free healthcare and free to get by with probation if you break the law.
I believe Tommy will be fair. As long as he keeps his heart and mind where it should be. God will guide him in his decisions. He totally has what it takes to be a leader with integrity. It's all a choice. His choice. What is he going to do with the gift he has been given? We shall see. I think he'll use it wisely.
Chambers will get his chance, thats a done deal. We'll see if is really one of the good ole boys or not.
Unless you are Mike Little's political enemy, then you go to the front of the line. His corrupt days in office are numbered.
Chambers is an idiot. I give him 4 and out. If it wernt for his wife he would be living under a bridge.
Obviously, the person calling Chambers an idiot has either been prosecuted by him or is jealous of his accomplishments. Lee, Tommy's wife, is definitely a smart lady, but his good character should be credited to his upbringing. Tommy will be a good, honest and fair judge...which is not a popularity contest.
your link the ACORN thing isn't working.
