(08/24/10- Liberty) Today at commissioner's court, agents with Home Land Security were present. Before the start of commissioner's court, federal agents served multiple summons to appear. The summons state the commissioners must appear at a federal grand jury on September 10, 2010- in Beaumont, Texas.
The Liberty County Commissioner's served with the federal summons were Melvin Hunt, Todd Fontenot and Norman Brown. (All democrats except for reputed turncoat Norman Brown.)
It is believed the reason for the commissioner's summons to appear is because of a broad investigation into FEMA fraud arising from activities surrounding the hurricane Ike cleanup and the resulting alleged billing and bid fraud.
Liberty Dispatch readers have shown a considerable interest in this story and look forward to a fair and reasonable investigation into FEMA fraud. Liberty Dispatch readers also have an immense respect for federal investigators and prosecutors who are investigating the overall cancerous corruption in Liberty County.

YIPPEE!!!!!!!
It's only just begun.....
You gentlemen are too kind at Liberty Dispatch. Norman Brown is not just a turncoat Democrat. He is connected to a failed effort by Rusty Hight to use his father-in-law to dominate both parties. The defeat of his father-in-law as the chairman of the Republicam Party ended support by Republicans connected to them of cetain Democrats and turncoats like best frien Norman Brown. This was a seedy backroom scheme to make the voters whop are sick and tired of Obama and local scandals think they were voting for change. Hight's efort to be the major force in both parties is over now that his father-in-la was sent home by Republicans who ejected their deception. Hight's arch enemy as well as Phil Fitzgerald's arch enemy switched parties to get away from them and Obama AND REPUBLICANS VOTED IN BIG NUMBERS IN SUPPORT OF JUDGE CHAP CAIN instead of the candidate Hight putb up to running as a Republican. Voters in Liberty County are a great deal more informed in these perilous times Mr. Hight.
Todd Fontenot is the worst commissioner Liberty County has had in my forty years of living in various areas within the county. Why was he elected? And why would anyone vote for him again? Somebody needs to run against him.
Mr Akins, I agree with whoever it is that wrote in and said Liberty County is long overdue for a sheriff that is extremely qualified and above all of the arguing. I agree no one fits that bill mpore than JP Bobby Rader. He has DPS and JP experience and has a reutation for fairness that is not surpassed by anyone. But Mr. Akins, I fear the consequences if he runs and I put a sign up in my yard because I hear the DPS has their own candidate.I can't afford a ticket because I have a politcal bumper sticker on my van. Whether it is Willoughby or Donny Smith, neither one will get the backing of Republicans over Bobby Rader. Therefore I assume they will run as a Democrat. Even though these men may not play rough like that we have seen far too many scandals from local Democrats to be naive and think tickets will not fly.
We should all go place flowers in Todd Fontenot's private parking space to mark this occassion. If hs parking space doesn't bother you, even though he is the first and only commssoner to eer have is own space, then you need to go to the third floor on the east side of the couthouse and see the only office a commissioner has ever had in the courthouse, Todd Fontenot's of course.
Anybody that has ever driven through Ames at election time when Fontenot is on the ballot knows there is no way to beat him when Obama is n the same ballot like he will be in 2012!
Fontenot needs to be swept out along with obama in 2012. Whoever does that will be a hero!
now, THERE's a way to keep Fitz from non-certifying the fall election results (let the grand jury certify HIM... as true billed for trial!)
Fontenot and Brown (and Groce, Kirkham and Fitzgerald) all better watch it. I've always said that all you've gotta do is threaten Hunt a little and he'll sing like a canary. I believe this is the beginning of the end for these commissioners...and not a moment too soon. Furthermore, I cannot think of anyway better for them to spend their retirement more than a federal prison.
With Brown, Hunt and Fontenot being served papers to testify before a Federal Grand Jury, tells me exactly who is being investigated by this Grand jury. I also hear that Lisa Fregia was also summoned to appear before this Grand jury. She is Phil's secretary. What a wonderful movie this would make. The Scandalous Days of Liberty County.
Mike McCarty is supposedly considering running again against Todd. He would make an outstanding commissioner. He has done a good job as Liberty City Council.
I will vote for Mike McCarty if he runs against Todd Fontenot. I agree Mike would make a great County Commissioner.
Isn't Lisa Fregia the ex-fiance of Chip Fairchild? Maybe she can shed some light on the dark shadow he casts around all his investigations
I suspect we will see two indictments, Fitzgerald and Groce, at least.
