Liberty Texas Police Department, Questionable Policing

Headline: Liberty Police arrest suspect for July 4, 2009 murder

"Thursday afternoon, LPD Officer Rolando Aguilar spotted Alberto Sanchez driving a silver Dodge pickup truck in the area of Main and Myrtle in Liberty.

Aguilar thought the driver of the truck matched a description from a recent assault case.

Aguilar turned around and tried to catch up to the truck to see if he could stop it and identify the driver. Aguilar successfully stopped the truck on Kentucky St., just south of Grand Ave., at 7:20 p.m.

As Aguilar approached the truck, the driver and two females exited the vehicle. The driver then fled on foot into the neighborhood.

After a short foot chase, Aguilar and assisting LPD Officer Mike Prado found the driver behind a house in the 2400 block of Grand Ave." (Courtesy HCN)

Question: What kind of police department allows a known and identified murderer to reside and operate in the community?

Answer: The Liberty Texas Police Department

Identified Murderers? What about Liberty Police Departments lead investigator, Chip Fairchild and his brother, Russell Fairchild. Ask the murdered school teacher Mr. Smith how he feels about murderers walking around in Liberty County. Ask the murdered teacher how he feels about Liberty County DA, Mike Little ignoring the murder. No one is safe in Liberty, Texas or Liberty County. Many murderers among us!

I live in Liberty and this pisses me off, the only thing the accused murder didnt do is put a banner on the side of his truck saying "Im a murderer". What a bunch of keystone cops, this is what I pay taxes for? Next they will proclaim they are heros, bunch of $hit.

I cant believe this guy was right under their noses for over a year. In the story they try to make an excuse for not catching him sooner because he was "an illegal alien". What a crock, who knows who else he has killed. The city manager of Liberty needs to fire Chief Billy Tidwell and all his cronies. What about their ace investigator, Chip Fairchild, what a pathetic joke. If this guy as an illegal would have been hiding in mexico, that would have been one thing, but the guy was right here in Liberty.

Fire the police department and if the Liberty Texas city manager wont, fire him too.

All this illegal Mexican had to do was be sure to stay away frome the donut shop. That is how he eluded police for a year. Maybe they wanted to catch him on the one year anniversary of the murder. Give them an award for hero of the year.

Just a couple points of interest.#1-in reading the article I couldn't help but notice that there was a party with a bunch of people that witnessed all that happened before and during the shooting. But no one was cooperating with the police.Should've called the Border Patrol and shipped all of them back that didn't have papers(Arizona?)#2-is Lt. Taylor taking notes and lessons from Det.Chip Fairchhild? He's supposed to be the lead detective on this case and it takes a whole year and accidentally stopping the perp who was mistaken for some one else to get him in jail? Why was a bond even set?Chief Billy Tidwell has said(about hiring Fairchild after Sheriff Patterson got rid of him)"I had to straighten him out a little bit first".How do you straighten out morals that have been engrained and ignored for years? The whole dept. along with Tidwell should be heavily scrutinized.Public service is taken as a liscense to rein by some. The Smith fire should be looked at a little closer also. There is something wrong with an ex deputy,off-duty,City of Liberty Police Detective(Chip)being allowed inside the yellow tape at a possible arson investigation on his brother Russell's property. How can that not impede an investigation?Too much Bull S@#$% going on for me and most of the other residents in Liberty.Time to clean house and start over.Couldn't possibly be any worse

While Liberty Dispatch talks about the need to make sure our public officials are doing the job we pay them to do and not using their office as their private political operation or their own piggy bank, that rumor monger with the car wreck pictures is complaining about what is on the menu at the jail. Furthermore, when the little feller complains, he does no cost analysis. Not that anyone cares, but if prisoners got hot dogs on Independence Day it might be a more legitimate complaint if the cost of them is compared to their regular meal. The little trumpet player that runs that site reminds me of the goggle-eyed goof down at the radio statio. It is all about them trying to stay in the public eye until election time when they will help their Democratic friends by "reporting" on their opponents. There is the scandal.

You people are still harping on Chip Fairchild? Your website could one day be used to help someone win a large lawsuit settlement if Chip is as bad as you think he is. Will that make you happy?

It's not the website harping on Chip Fairchild. It is people that know and have had dealings with Chip that see it as their constitutional right and moral obligation to inform the public of the inept, immoral, "can't touch me" attitude that Chip has had all his law enforcement days. There are plenty of candidates to fill Chip's shoes that don't bring the baggage he has accumulated in his relatively short police career. Time to get rid of corruption. He's a good place to start.
